Recap of Success for Kia in 2022
As an automaker, the Kia Motor Corporation has been killing it, lately. Starting off its all-electric lineup with the all-new Kia EV6 hatchback, this automaker had a lot of new releases coming up to separate itself from the industry. The Kia Carnival is putting the automaker in luxury car territory, and plug-in hybrids keep coming out for popular SUVs, like the Kia Sorento Hybrid . This year has been a very active one for the Kia Corp and Kia America, and the many awards the automaker won sing its praise all-year-long.
Starting with a bang, the Kia EV6 won “Car of the Year” award at the prestigious 2022 What Car? Awards , and World Champion at the Inaugural “Best Cars of the Year” Awards. The EV6 is really the shining achievement for the automaker, winning many awards in 2022, such as the 2022 GOOD Design Awards for the EV6 and Kia Carnival , the EV6 winning 2022 European Car of the Year , and the 2022 Red Dot Design Award won by the EV6 (to name a few). It wasn’t always just one model shining either – many awards were worn as a group effort with many models taking home the gold. This happened for Kia during the 2022 Car and Driver Editors’ Choice Awards , the four Kia models at the 2022 NYIAS , several Kia models named in MotorTrend’s Ultimate Car Rankings , four Kia models winning 2022 Strategic Vision TQI Awards , and overall named “ Manufacturer of the Year” by TopGear.com . On top of this, five awards were won from the J.D. Power 2023 ALG Residual Awards for Kia , and Kia won 2023 Vincentric Best CPO Value in America .
Another high-level study by J.D. Power, Kia ranked highest during the J.D. Power 2022 Vehicle Dependability Study , the Kia Niro EV ranked highest during the 2022 J.D. Power EVX Study , the Kia Forte ranked highest during the 2022 J.D. Power IQS , and Kia earned the highest ranking during the 2022 J.D. Power APEAL Study . Now that’s some high prestige! Along with the vin for best CPO by Vincentric mentioned earlier, the Kia Rio S also won the Vincentric 2022 Best Fleet Value in America Award .
Known for SUVs in the lineup, Kia wowed with its largest SUV to date, the Kia Telluride, named Best 3-Row SUV for Families by U.S. News Reports , and the Telluride was named the Best Family Car by KBB 2022 . The luxury entry, Kia Carnival MPV won the 2022 Autotrader Best New Car Award , AutoGuide named the Kia Carnival the 2022 “Family Vehicle Of The Year ”. Sharing some wins, the Kia Telluride and EV6 won awards during the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show . Sprinkling in a couple more wins for the Kia EV, the EV6 landed on WardsAuto 10 Best Interiors & UX List and the 2022 Winter Vehicle Award for Best Electric Vehicle from NEMPA was won by the Kia EV6 .
Along with the Kia Sorento Hybrid changing things up for SUVs, the Sportage Hybrid won Best SUV Category during the Motor1.com 2022 Star Awards . As the automaker moves towards EVs and purpose-built vehicles (PBVs) with parent group Hyundai Motor Co, Kia earned the Red Dot category: “Innovative Products , as well as the “Red Dot: Best of the Best” award. We’re sure looking forward to what the South Korean automaker comes out with next. Possibly the Kia EV9 all-electric SUV discussed during the Kia 2022 CEO Investor Day ?
