2024 Kia Telluride

Engine Type

The 2024 Kia Telluride expands a bit this year, now including – LX, S, EX, SX, SX-Prestige trims. Each of these can come with front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD), aside from the SX-Prestige, locked into AWD. Several trims can also come with a more aggressive setup, such as the EX X-Line (with AWD0, SX X-Line or X-Pro (with AWD), or the SX-Prestige X-Line or X-Pro. Regardless, they all come powered with the same Atkinson Cycle Lambda II 3.8-liter V6 engine, able to generate 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque.

Driving and Handling

All trims come with an 8-speed automatic transmission, but fuel economy differs depending on the drivetrain chosen, also streamlined across the lineup. If the 2024 Telluride is equipped with FWD, the fuel economy is 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. If running on AWD, the fuel economy is 18/24 mpg city/highway. The standard towing capacity is still up to 5,000 pounds, and up to 5,500 pounds for X-Pro trims.

Exterior Features

Standard features sure do jump around this year. All trims come with a rear window washer/wiper, heated exterior mirrors with LED turn signals, automatic headlamps, LED projector headlights, LED positioning lights, amber LED daytime running lights, and high beam assist. Past the S trim, LED tail lights and a smart power liftgate with auto close are also added. Auto rain-sensing windshield wipers can only be found past the SX X-Pro trim. Of course, all X-Line and X-Pro trims come with their own styling choices and badges to denote the difference between trims, plus high-utility roof rails. Oddly enough, the LX, S, and SX X-Pro trim ride on 18-inch wheels, whereas the rest of the lineup comes with 20-inch wheels.

Interior Features

Like the exterior, standard features jump around a bit inside the 2024 Kia Telluride. These include a dual-zone auto climate control, rear passenger auto climate control with rear a/c vents, a one-touch sliding & folding second row, 60/40 split-folding third row, solar control glass, sound-absorbing windshield glass, and privacy glass. Only the base LX trim comes equipped with a six-way manually-adjustable driver’s seat, followed by an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with 2-way lumbar support adjustment on the S, EX, and EX with X-Line trims, and a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with 2-way lumbar support adjustment, driver smart posture control & thigh extension on the rest of the lineup. The LX and S come with a 6-way manually-adjustable front passenger seat, followed by an 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat with 2-way lumbar support adjustment on the rest of the trims.

Past the LX base trim, consumers also get heated front seats. Past the S trim, the Telluride adds ventilated front seats, second-row integrated window sunshades, sound-absorbing front door window. Heated and ventilated second-row seats can only be found on the SX-Prestige trims. A sunroof is standard on the EX trim (optional on the S trim), and a dual sunroof is found on the rest of the lineup past that. A heated steering wheel is standard on the EX with X-Line and all trims past the SX trim, optional add-on for the standard EX and SX trims.

SynTex is the standard upholstery for the LX and S, followed by leather on the EX and SX trims (with or without X-Line/X-Pro), and Nappa leather on the SX Prestige trims. Past the base LX, the lineup comes with a leather-wrapped gear shift knob, but a leather-wrapped steering wheel is standard. SX-Prestige trims also come with a SynTex suede headliner. Past the S trim, LED interior lighting is standard, optional on the S trim.

Entertainment

All trims come with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display with Kia Connect and navigation. Past the EX trims, consumers also get a 12.3-inch instrument display for 24 inches of digital galore. A 10-inch heads-up display is also a standard feature on SX Prestige trims. The standard sound system comes with six speakers, but past the EX trims, a Harman Kardon premium audio system with 10 speakers is the standard. All trims are capable of Google Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, and pre-cooling & heating through the Kia Access app. A wireless phone charger can be found inside past the base LX trim.

Safety Features and Warranty

Standard on every 2024 Kia Telluride are dual front advanced airbags, dual front seat-mounted side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, a rollover sensor, an anti-lock brake system, stability and traction control systems, a rear occupant alert system, rear-camera display with dynamic parking guidance, and LATCH child-seat ready anchors. Advanced safety features that come standard include blind-spot collision warning, forward collision warning with avoidance assist (for pedestrians, cyclists, and junction turning detection; plus junction crossing, lane change, and evasive steering assist past the EX trims) rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, a parking distance warning for the rear (also for the front past EX trims) lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, navigation-based smart cruise control with stop & go plus curve, intelligent speed limit assist, drive attention warning, safe exit assist, and a rear occupant alert system. Past EX trims, the Telluride comes with a parking collision-avoidance assist system, surround view monitor smart cruise control with stop & Go & machine learning, and highway driving assist 2 (1.5 on other previous trims).
