Powertrain

Down to two trims, the 2024 Kia Sportage Plug-in Hybrid lineup is made up of the X-Line and X-Line Prestige. Both are powered by a 1.6-liter Turbocharged engine and an 88 kW lithium-ion polymer battery. Combined, they have an output of 261 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Power is transmitted through a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Charging and AER

Capable of fast charging with a 240-volt level II outlet, the 2024 Kia Sportage Plug-in Hybrid can recharge the battery in roughly two hours. The large battery offers the ability to drive on electric power only for a total all-electric range (AER) of 34 miles. A fuel economy of 84 MPGe comes from the combined output of both power sources.

Exterior Features

Standard features include heated rear glass, heated exterior mirrors with LED turn signals, sound-absorbing windshield glass, privacy glass, high-utility roof rails, a smart power liftgate, automatic headlights, LED projector lights, LED tail lights, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and high beam assist. Only the X-Line Prestige adds solar control glass and LED fog lights. Both trims ride on 19-inch wheels.

Interior Features

The standard features for the interior of the 2024 Kia Sportage Plug-in Hybrid include dual-zone auto climate control with auto de-fog, rear ac vents, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar support adjustment, heated front seats, a 60/40 split-folding & reclining second row, dual level cargo floor, a panoramic sunroof with a power sunshade, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and LED interior lighting. The upholstery for both is X-Line SynTex seat trim. The X-Line comes with a 4-way manually-adjustable front passenger’s seat, but the X-Line Prestige comes with an 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat. The X-Line Prestige also adds ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and driver’s seat memory.

Entertainment

Both trims come with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display with Kia Connect and navigation, plus a 12-inch instrument display for a total of 24 inches of digital screens. Both trims are capable of Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, a wireless phone charger, and Bluetooth wireless connectivity. The X-Line trim is equipped with a six-speaker sound system, and the X-Line Prestige comes with a Harman Kardon® premium surround sound system with 8-speakers and HALOsonic®.

Safety Features and Warranty

The 2024 Kia Sportage PHEV comes with many safety features standard, including dual front advanced airbags, dual front seat-mounted side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, a rollover sensor, an anti-lock brake system, stability and traction control systems, a rear occupant alert system, and LATCH child-seat ready anchors. When it comes to advanced safety features, both trims come with blind-spot collision-avoidance assist with parallel exit, forward collision-avoidance assist (with car, pedestrian, and cyclist detection; plus junction turning detection on X-Line Prestige), rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, a parking distance warning system for the rear, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, intelligent speed limit assist, a driver attention warning with leading vehicle departure alert, and safe exit warning. Only the X-Line Prestige comes equipped with a blind-spot view monitor, a parking distance warning system for the front and rear, a parking collision-avoidance assist system for going in reverse, remote smart parking assist, a surround view monitor, navigation-based smart cruise control with stop & go, and highway driving assist.
