Only two trims, the 2024 Kia Sorento HEV has the EX and SX Prestige. Both are powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged I4 combined with an AC synchronous permanent magnet motor and a lithium-ion polymer battery. Together, they are able to generate 227 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.

Driving and Handling

Paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, the EX can come with front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD), whereas the SX Prestige is locked into AWD. If equipped with FWD, the EX has a fuel economy of 39 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway. If equipped with (AWD), the fuel economy is rated at 36 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.

Exterior Features

Standard features found on the 2024 Kia Sorento HEV include heated exterior mirrors with LED turn signals, roof rails, a smart power tailgate, rear window washer/wiper, automatic headlights, LED fog lights, LED positioning lights, solar control glass, sound-absorbing windshield glass, privacy glass, and high beam assist. Only the SX Prestige trim comes with auto rain-sensing windshield wipers, LED projector headlights, LED tail lights, and LED daytime running lights (DRLs). The EX rides on 17-inch wheels, but the SX Prestige rides on 19-inch wheels.

Interior Features

Inside, the EX comes with a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with 2-way lumbar support adjustment and an 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, but the SX Prestige is equipped with a 14-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with 4-way lumbar support adjustment & 2-way power thigh extension and a 10-way power-adjustable front passenger seat. Heated front seats, a one-touch sliding & folding second row, 50/50 split-folding & reclining third row, leather-wrapped steering wheel and a dual level floor cargo are standard. Both trims can opt-in for a panoramic sunroof with power sunshade and LED interior lighting. Only the SX Prestige comes with ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, and second row integrated window sunshades. The EX gets SynTex upholstery, whereas perforated genuine leather seat trim.

Entertainment

All trims come with a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation and Kia Connect, capable of Google Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, a wireless phone charger, pre-cooling and heating activation via the Kia Connect App, and Bluetooth wireless connectivity. A six-speaker sound system is the standard, whereas the SX Prestige Bose® premium 12-speaker audio system.

Safety Features and Warranty

Standard safety features for the 2024 Kia Sorento HEV include dual front advanced airbags, dual front seat-mounted side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, a rollover sensor, an anti-lock brake system, stability and traction control systems, a rear occupant alert system, and LATCH child-seat ready anchors. Standard advanced safety features include blind-spot collision-avoidance assist with parallel exit, forward collision-avoidance assist (with pedestrian, cyclist, & junction turning/detection), rear cross-traffic collision avoidance alert, a parking distance warning system for the front and rear, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, navigation-based smart cruise control with stop & go plus curve, highway driving assist, intelligent speed limit assist, a driver attention warning system, safe exit assist, and rear occupant alert. Only the SX Prestige comes equipped with a blind-spot view monitor, parking collision-avoidance assist in reverse, and a surround view monitor.
