Engine Types

The 2024 Kia Sorento has eight trims this year – LX, S, Ex, X-Line EX, SX, X-Line SX, X-Line SX Prestige, and X-Pro SX Prestige. Powering the LX and S trims is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine able to generate 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. The rest of the lineup is powered by a Turbocharged 2.5 liter 4-cylinder engine, able to generate 281 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. All trims are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, but past the S trim, it’s a dual-clutch type of automatic transmission. The LX, S, EX, and SX can come with a forward-wheel drivetrain (FWD), whereas all other trims are locked into all-wheel drive (AWD). The S can also opt-in for AWD.

Fuel Economy

Fuel economy for the 2024 Kia Sorento varies throughout the lineup. The LX and S when equipped with FWD is 23 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway, but the S equipped with AWD has a fuel economy of 23/28 mpg city/highway. The EX and SX trims have a fuel economy of 20 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. All other trims with AWD have a fuel economy of 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. When properly equipped, the maximum towing capacity is 4500 pounds.

Exterior Features

Many standard features can be found on the 2024 Kia Sorento, such as automatic headlights, LED projector headlights, LED Daytime Running Lights, LED positioning lights, high beam assist, privacy glass, a sound-absorbing windshield, solar control glass, and heated exterior mirrors with LED turn signals. Past the S trim, the 2024 Kia Sorento comes with a smart power liftgate and LED fog lights. Past the EX trim, consumers can get a panoramic sunroof with a power sunshade (optional add-on for S and EX trims). Only the Prestige trims come with sound-absorbing front door window glass. Past the X-Line, the 2024 Kia Sorento comes with LED tail lights.

The LX base and X-Pro SX Prestige trims are equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels. The S trim rides on 18-inch wheels. The rest of the lineup comes equipped with 20-inch wheels.

Interior Features

In the 2024 Kia Sorento, the LX only comes with a 6-way manually-adjustable driver’s seat and 4-way manually-adjustable front passenger seat, but the S, EX, X-Line EX, SX, and S-Line SX come with a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat with 2-way power lumbar support adjustment and an 8-way power adjustable passenger seat. The Prestige trims come with a 12-way power adjustable driver’s seat with 4-way lumbar support adjustment with power thigh extension and a 10-way power adjustable passenger seat with 2-way power lumbar support adjustment. Past the LX base trim, the 2024 Kia Sorento comes equipped with heated front seats, with a second-row feature for the Prestige trims. Past the X-Line EX, trims add ventilated front seats. Only the Prestige trims come with a heated steering wheel and driver’s seat memory system. The LX and S trims have a 60/40 split-folding second row, whereas the rest of the lineup has 50/50 split-folding second and third-row seats with one-touch sliding and folding.

The 2024 Kia Sorento LX base trim has cloth upholstery, followed by trims S, EX, X-Line EX, SX, and X-Line SX have SynTex upholstery, and the Prestige trims come with genuine leather upholstery and SynTex headliner. Past the LX trim, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob are standard. Past the EX trim, LED ambient lighting is standard, but an optional add-on for the S and EX trims.

Entertainment

The 2024 Kia Sorento LX base trim comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display; the rest of the lineup adds navigation and has a total of 24 inches of digital screens with a 12.3-inch curved instrument display. All trims are capable of wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM radio, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, and the infotainment system is powered by Kia Connect. A wireless phone charger is standard past the base LX trim. A six-speaker sound system is standard, but the Prestige trims come with a Bose® Premium 12-speaker audio system.

Safety Features and Warranty

The 2024 Kia Sorento comes with many basic safety features, including dual front advanced airbags, dual front seat-mounted side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, a rollover sensor, an anti-lock brake system, stability and traction control systems, a rear occupant alert system, rear-camera display, rear seat occupant alert, safe exit assist, and LATCH child-seat ready anchors. Standard advanced safety features include blind-spot collision warning with parallel exit (plus collision-avoidance assist past the X-Line EX trim); forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian, cyclist, and junction turning detection (plus junction crossing, direct oncoming traffic, lane change, and evasive steering assist past the X-Line EX trim); rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist; lane departure warning; lane keeping assist; lane following assist; intelligent speed assist’ lane vehicle departure warning; a driver attention warning system; and safe exit assist. Past the LX base trim, the 2024 Kia Sorento lineup comes with a parking distance warning for the front and rear (plus a parking collision-avoidance assist system for when going in reverse). Past the X-Line EX, the 2024 Kia Sorento lineup comes with a surround-view monitor and blind-spot view monitor. Smart cruise control with stop & go technology s standard, but smart cruise control with navigation and curve detection plus highway driving assist is equipped on the S, EX, and X-Line EX trims, and the rest of the lineup comes with the same system but with AI machine learning and highway driving assist 2.
