2024 Kia Sportage

Engine Type

The 2024 Kia Sportage has seven trims – LX, EX, SX, SX Prestige, X-Line, X-Pro, and X-Pro Prestige. All of the trims up to the SX-Prestige come with front-wheel drive standard (FWD), able to opt in for all-wheel drive (AWD), whereas the rest of the trim is locked into AWD. Regardless, they’re all powered by the same 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, able to generate 187 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. All trims also come paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Driving and Handling

Because the powertrain is the same across the lineup, fuel economy only changes based on the drivetrain. If equipped with FWD, the 2024 Kia Sportage has a fuel economy of 25 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. Surprisingly, all trims have the same fuel economy when equipped with AWD – 23/28 mpg city/highway. The 2024 Kia Sportage also has a 2,500-pound maximum towing capacity when properly equipped.

Exterior Features

Standard features for the 2024 Kia Sportage include automatic headlamps, LED projector headlights, LED tail lights, LED daytime running lights, high beam assist, privacy glass, sound-absorbing windshield glass, and a heated defroster. Past the LX base trim, the 2024 Kia Sportage adds heated side mirrors with LED turn signals. Only the SX Prestige, X-Pro, and X-Pro Prestige come with LED fog lights. Only the X-Pro and X-Pro Prestige come with a heated windshield. Only Prestige trims come with solar control glass. The standard wheel size for the LX and X-Pro trims is 17-inch wheels. The EX and SX come with 18-inch wheels. The X-Line comes with 19-inch wheels.

Interior Features

The base LX trim comes with a 6-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, whereas the rest of the lineup comes with a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat with 2-way lumbar support adjustment. All trims but the Prestige trims come with a 4-way manually adjustable front-passenger seat; the Prestige trims come with an 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat. Past the base trim, the 2024 Kia Sportage comes equipped with heated front seats (available option for LX trim), dual-zone automatic climate control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. All trims come with rear a/c vents and 60/40 split-folding reclining rear seats. Past the X-Line, the 2024 Kia Sportage comes with a panoramic sunroof with power sunshade (available option on the X-Line trim), driver’s seat memory, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, leather-wrapped gear shift knob, and LED interior lighting. The standard upholstery is woven cloth. The rest of the lineup comes with SynText seat trim, but the SX Prestige comes with premium Syntex upholstery.

Entertainment

The LX base trim comes with an 8-inch touchscreen display, but the rest of the lineup comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display with navigation; combined with the 12.3-inch instrument display (past the X-Line trim), this is a total of 24 inches of digital screen space. All trims are capable of Google Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Bluetooth wireless tech, and come with a rearview monitor. Kia Connect and a wireless phone charger can be found in all trims past the base LX trim. The standard sound system is a six-speaker audio system. Past the X-Line, the 2024 Kia Sportage is equipped with a Harman Kardon 8-speaker system.

Safety Features and Warranty

All 2024 Kia Sportage trims come with the basic standard safety features: dual front advanced airbags, dual front seat-mounted side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, a rollover sensor, an anti-lock brake system, stability and traction control systems, a rear occupant alert system, a rear-view camera with dynamic parking guidelines, and LATCH child-seat ready anchors. Standard advanced safety features include forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection (plus junction turning past X-Line trim), a parking distance warning for the rear, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, and a driver attention warning system. Past the base LX trim, the 2024 Kia Sportage comes equipped with blind-spot collision avoidance to assist with parallel exit, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, and safe exit warning. Only Prestige trims come with parking distance warning for the front, parking collision avoidance assist when going in reverse, and a surround-view monitor. Past the X-Line, the 2024 Kia Sportage comes with navigation-based smart cruise control with stop & go and curve detection, and highway driving assist.
