We’re already several weeks into 2022, but vehicles released in 2021 are still winning awards, and automotive publications are still happy to share the results of their “Best of” lists. Two new recent awards for Kia Corp are due to the all-new Kia EV6 hatchback. The first all-electric vehicle with no predecessor from the automaker, the EV6 brings long-range, zero-emissions power, 800V ultra-fast charging, and a new Kia signature style to the crossover and SUV market. That’s why it won these two prestigious awards – “Car of the Year” award at the prestigious 2022 What Car? Awards, and was crowned World Champion at the Inaugural “Best Cars of the Year” Awards.
Winning an award from What Car? is a historical mark for the automaker, with the EV6 being the second time an electric vehicle (EV) has ever won the What Car? “Electric SUV of the Year” award. The first time was the Kia Niro EV in 2019. In the ten months since its release, the EV6 has won a record number of awards and accolades, with highlights in 2021 like being named “Crossover of the Year” by TopGear. In 2022, the popularity will surely continue, and What Car? shared some thoughts on why.
“The EV6 combines a huge real-world range with the ability to charge at speeds that no rival can keep up with, addressing two of the biggest concerns that people still have about electric cars. What’s more, by using bespoke electric underpinnings rather than a set that’s shared by petrol and diesel models, Kia has been able to take advantage of the compact size of electric motors and produce a car that’s hugely spacious and practical…Add in effortless performance, outstanding refinement, competitive pricing and one of the best warranties around, and the striking EV6 doesn’t just look like the future – it feels like it too.” – Steve Huntingford, Editor of What Car? magazine
The second win for the EV6 is shared with a vehicle in its shared automotive group, the Hyundai Motor Group (HMG). Both the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Kia EV6 claimed the title of the “Best Cars of the Year” 2021/2022. Picked for their quality, innovation, design and state-of-the-art tech, a panel of judges found the Kia EV6 to be among the world-class of EVs, beating new models from established premium brands, including the Audi e-tron, Ford Mustang Mach-e and Porsche Taycan. This is a huge plus for Kia Corp, currently inching its way also into the luxury vehicle market and no longer just focusing on the mass-vehicle market.
Consumers are also looking for automotive reviews and information during their research for their next vehicle purchase. The “Best Cars of the Year” Awards are held every year to provide an unaffiliated, unique, and totally democratic view of the “best” vehicles available. To insure a variety of views and tastes, the judging panel was curated from leaders in the automotive industry, plus designers, engineers, motorsport pioneers, acclaimed journalists, broadcasters and media professionals, vehicle retailers, automotive consultants, major event organizers, and real-world car buyers. It seems like all angles were covered for this award. We’re sure the Kia EV6 will continue to grow in popularity and win more awards. You can find your award-winning Kia EV6 at Miami Lakes Automall.
