There has been a lot of news for the Kia EV6 all-electric vehicle recently. Making it practical and affordable with true incentives, Kia America has partnered with two groups well-known to the electric vehicle (EV) community. In February, the Kia partnered with Electrify America to offer new EV6 owners 1,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh), free of charge, at any Electrify America station across the U.S. In March, Kia America made a deal with Currently, a mobile charging service. Winning awards like the 2022 European Car of the Year, the Kia EV6 recently won another award – the prestigious 2022 Red Dot Design Awards.

Never heard of it? Here’s a little summary of the Red Dot Design Awards. One of the largest design competitions in the world, the Red Dot Design Awards rate vehicles based on aesthetics, functionality, ergonomics, quality, and ecological compatibility. That last one big win for the EV6, being an all-electric emissions-free vehicle. Dating back to 1955, the Red Dot Design Awards have a long history. This year, the juror panel consisted of 50 members of independent designers, design professors, and trade journalists Every year, the results are announced by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen, and divided into three disciplines: Product Design, Brands & Communication Design, and Design Concept.

The Kia EV6 took home the awards for the ‘Red Dot: Best of the Best’, as well as the Red Dot category: ‘Innovative Products’. Only adding to the overall success of Kia Corp models, the automaker is no stranger to the Red Dor Awards. In 2009, the Kia Soul became the first vehicle from a Korean automotive brand to receive the award, and since then, a total of 27 Kia models have also earned the Red Dot award. The EV6 marks the sixth Kia vehicle to also receive the Red Dot ‘Best of the Best’ accolade. Build from the ground up, the Kia EV6 was built to pioneer a new wave for EVs and the electrified lineup of Kia Corp, including the upcoming Kia EV9 all-electric SUV , displayed at the 2022 Chicago Auto Show . “The EV6 is a very important vehicle for the Kia brand, as it is our first fully dedicated EV with our best technology for a new era. We have the ambition to keep pushing the boundaries of automotive design and to back up product substance with inventive, bold and forward-looking designs. These two Red Dot awards honor the hard work of our teams and encourage us to stay the course towards the future of environmentally responsible mobility for all.” – Karim Habib, Head of Kia Global Design Centre\

Like we said, the Kia EV6 was newly built from the ground up, making full use of the company’s advanced Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the underpinning of many if not all electric concepts and vehicles coming to the lineup. If the plans released during the Kia 2022 CEO Investor Day come to fruition, then by 2027, Kia Corp will have released 14 batter-electric vehicles (BEVs), with two launching every year between 2023 and 2027 The Kia EV6 and EV9 are just the first of growing all-electric lineup. We’re sure the automaker will have no problem meeting this goal, having shifted all of its resources to the development of electric Kia vehicles . Want to find out what all the buzz is about?
