Kia Corp Wins Multiple Awards During 2022 NYIAS
We covered a bit of the 2022 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) that started last week and will continue on through this upcoming weekend (April 15 – 24, 2022). Well, we focused more on the highlights of the new 2023 Kia Niro crossover and new 2023 Kia Telluride SUV. Previewed during the 2022 NYIAS, Kia Corp was sure to put these vehicles front and center. Also taking place during 2022 NYIAS was an auto awards show no doubt, and Kia is flying high after winning multiple marketing honors for its recent “Movement That Inspires” broadcast campaigns.
The recent marketing campaign by Kia have featured Kia’s first entry into the luxury car segment, the Carnival MPV ; the automaker’s first all-electric vehicle, the EV6 ; the latest sports car from the automaker, the K5 ; and of course the Telluride, the automaker’s largest SUV to date and the latest model to become an electric vehicle (EV) if the design of the Kia EV9 is anything to go by. Seen at the 2022 Chicago Auto Show , it was basically a large, bright blue SUV, but electric. Let’s just call it an electric Telluride for now, and seeing as how the Telluride is one of Kia Corp’s most-awarded SUVs, winning the Triple Crown of Automotive Awards during its first year of release, the Telluride goes on to earn another first, the EDO’s first-ever Automotive TV Advertising Award for “Best Non-Luxury Auto Campaign”.
Yeah, the Kia Telluride continues to make history with that win. Possibly an unknown name, EDO is a data measurement company known as a reliable source that studies consumer actions and what drives them to shop around when in the market for a vehicle. The large focus in on the effectiveness of high-value media placements, TV ad campaigns, and subsequent consumer engagement online that may inspire consumers to purchase the item seen on screen. The Carnival MPV , EV6 , K5 and Telluride models were all recognized for driving consumer engagement with the automaker online with this huge win. None of these vehicles are strangers when it comes to the winner’s circle.
“Having two of Kia’s most ambitious marketing initiatives recognized as best in class by EDO and MediaPost is further proof of the growth and maturation of the Kia brand in the U.S. and provides us with inspiration for future marketing to continue path towards challenging convention and pushing boundaries…With the launch of ‘Movement That Inspires’ and the introduction of the all-electric EV6, Kia is well on its way to a leadership position in sustainable mobility.” – Russell Wager, vice president, marketing, Kia America
Alongside the awards show, the Kia EV6 got further exposure. When it came to release the all-electric EV6 on American soil, the automaker held a large event – Kia’s “Times Square Takeover”. Made possible with assistance from agency partners, including David&Goliath, Gail & Rice, Innocean, and Zeno Group, Kia Corp landed in New York City and made time square the prime location for an in-person US debut of the new EV6. This event won Kia another award, with marketing trade journal MediaPost, naming Kia’s “Times Square Takeover” the “Best Interactive Execution or Campaign.” With all these awards and honors, it’s clear Kia Corp is becoming a giant in the auto industry.
