2017 Wrap Up of Brands and Models at Miami Lakes Automall
So much has happened this year, it’s time to wrap up 2017 before the New Year. Many of the brands at Miami Lakes Automall killed it in sales, won many awards, and debuted new vehicle trims and all new models. We can’t cover _ everything _ , so here’s a couple of the highlights for each brand.
Chevrolet
Among its many awards this year, most notable are mentions of the Chevrolet Sonic, Tahoe, Silverado HD, and Camaro for dependability by J.D. Power for the last two years-in-a-row. Nearly every vehicle in the Chevy lineup received an award, such as the Chevy Volt, Spark, Sonic, Malibu, Impala, Camaro, Trax, Equinox, Traverse, Tahoe, Suburban, Colorado, and Silverado. Besides being an award-winning brand, Chevrolet also came out with special edition trucks for the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado and Chevrolet Silverado to celebrate its Centennial Anniversary. In addition, Chevrolet released the Bolt EV, a strong competitor for Tesla, also leading Chevy’s self-driving fleet and making headway as possibly the first brand to make it to the finish line for autonomous car technology.
Chrysler
It’s almost impossible to ignore the Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid. Rated as the Best Family Car by several organizations, the Pacifica also landed on the _ WardsAuto _ Best User Experience list and the Pacifica Hybrid was named in the _ WardsAuto _ 10 Best Engines list. The Chrysler Pacifica also was named highest in initial quality in the minivan segment of the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study. With only two models left, three including the hybrid, we’re all wondering what Chrysler will do next. They also have a partnership with Google at the moment for the Google Waymo project, having donated over 500 Pacifica Hybrids to the Waymo testing fleet.
Jeep
Jeep has been all the talk recently, after its release of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL , the next-generation of the Wrangler . Along with the other FCA brands that improved in quality according to the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study, Jeep won many awards for the new Jeep Compass, Grand Cherokee, Renegade, Wrangler/Wrangler Unlimited, and the Patriot. Earlier this year during the New York American Auto Show, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk finally debuted, a Jeep made to match the glory and power of the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. Like the Challenger SRT Hellcat, the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is powered by a 707-horsepower supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI SRT V8 engine. The Jeep Wrangler Pickup is also set to debut in 2018, but at the moment the most information the internet has are rumors.
Dodge
The Dodge brand made a large statement when the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon first came out. It was all anyone could talk about until the first SRT Demon was produced in September, signaling that deliveries would start shortly, but not all 3,000 have been ordered. Dodge also came out with a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody to match the aggressive and fierce look of the Challenger SRT Demon and also released a high-powered SUV, the Dodge Durango SRT. When it comes to awards, alongside being the “Most Loved” full-size sedan in America, the Dodge Charger earned the 2017 ALG Residual Value Award for the third year in a row. Moreover, the Power Chiller in the SRT Demon won the “Best of What’s New” award by _ Popular Science _ for its innovative technology that makes all 840 horsepower of the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon possible.
Mitsubishi
Mitsubishi Motors has definitely been making waves since the Mitsubishi-Nissan-Renault Alliance was formed. There isn’t a long list of rewards like our other brands, but Mitsubishi may be the most active automaker brand for 2017, coming out with a new concept or vehicle every auto show. Twice in 2017, the 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross debuted, showing off its technology and everything good about the Eclipse Cross , a hybrid between a coupe and a crossover. The Eclipse Cross is actually the last in-house vehicle by Mitsubishi, along with its commercial line, Mitsubishi FUSO and the all-electric eCanter truck . Mitsubishi Motors also celebrated its Centennial Anniversary this year, and with it, redesigned the vehicle that began its roots, the Mitsubishi Model A, now known as the Mitsubishi Re-Model A Plug-in Hybrid – the end result may not make it into production, but the long-awaited Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is finally here.
Kia
Kia has also been crushing it this year with awards and new models released. For the second year in a row, Kia Motors took the top spot in the annual J.D. Power Initial Quality Study, earned the most model-level category awards, and five of its models earned the top spots in their respective categories – the Kia Cadenza, Kia Forte, Kia Niro, Kia Sorento and Kia Soul. The 2017 Kia Soul also was named the best budget vehicle by two publications . Two new models by Kia also came out in 2017, the 2018 Kia Niro, a hybrid crossover, already having won three of its own awards and having sold 25,000 units to-date. The most anticipated vehicle though was the 2018 Kia Stinger, now officially released and added to the lineup, being showered with awards, including being named on the _ WardsAuto _ 10 Best Engines List for its turbocharged V6, and chosen as the 2018 Car of the Year by AutoGuide.com. Lastly, another crossover concept debuted, the 2018 Kia Stonic, and two new plug-in hybrids are planned, one for the Stonic and the other for the Niro.
Ram
Ram trucks have had their own share of glory, having named improvements during the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study and several awards for the Ram 1500, Ram 2500, Ram 3500, Ram Chassis Cab models, Ram ProMaster, and Ram ProMaster City. Along with these awards, Ram came out with three new special editions for the Ram 1500, Ram 2500, and Ram 3500 pickup trucks. These include the luxury high-class 2018 Ram Limited Tungsten Edition, the 2018 Ram Harvest Edition, and the recent 2018 Ram 1500 Hydro Blue Sport. Set for 2019 is the 2018 Ram 1500, with a first-time ever addition, a Mega Cab option, usually reserved for the Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 heavy duty pickup trucks.
