The Chevy Malibu Sedan Gets Recharged

A Chevy Malibu EV Sedan?

This past decade, we’ve seen a significant surge in the popularity of SUVs and crossovers, ultimately leading to the slow downfall of Chevrolet’s previous fan-favorite, the Malibu sedan. For the past few years, this mid-sizer has been showing its age regarding its gradual fade into obscurity. However, all hope is not lost because there is the future of the Malibu car; according to General Motors president Mark Reuss, the automaker will have another electric revamp. During a recent Investor Day presentation in China, Reuss revealed that Chevrolet is toling with a “low-roof” EV that will have sedan-like proportions.

The upcoming electric sedan has just moved into the early stages of development. Still, according to Reuss, the design is quite “dramatic,” saying that the EV will take up the same mid-size segment as the current-gen Malibu. This possible successor has already been approved for the Chinese market, as sedans are still a hot commodity there, but the company may eventually offer this car in North America. Reuss seemed to entertain the thought of the EV’s availability in the U.S., saying at the function, “… we’ll see the desirability as we clinic this.”

Chevrolet recently introduced an electric sedan concept in China dubbed the FNR-XE. Its design gives us a taste of the EV that Reuss suggested. On top of this, the concept is derived from the Ultium battery platform. The overall shape resembles the Honda e:N2 concept, which was revealed for China last month. Honda and GM are already joining forces for the electric crossovers, with the Chevy Blazer EV and Honda Prologue acting as bunkmates for the same platform.

GM introduced four new EV models derived from the platform, but the other three that have been introduced include the Cadillac Lyriq, GMC Hummer EV, and the Buick Electra-X.

GM said at the function:

“From fuel to electric, from horsepower to computing power, new technology has become a new engine to drive the upgrading of automobile products and promote the leapfrog development of the automobile industry.”

The Malibu’s possible fully-electrified successor will be introduced to the Chinese market toward the end of 2024. Therefore, if GM decided to bring it to the U.S., it likely wouldn’t begin until at least 2025.

While various customers have been captivated by SUVs in recent years, the Malibu sedan still represents a good chunk of Chevy’s sales. After seeing a significant decline in 2021, specifically a drop of 102,651 units in 2020 to just 39,376 units, the Malibu bounced back this year, with nearly 80,000 units sold through the third quarter.

While there is still a market for sedans in North America, an electric version of the Malibu may be what the company needs to bring a full-on resurgence to the car, especially as we shy away from gas-powered vehicles.

The 2024 Chevrolet Montana is finally here. After being teased for several months, the unibody compact pickup truck will make its way to Brazilian markets. Chevrolet unveiled the 2024 Montana during a special broadcast on the Chevrolet Brasil YouTube channel. There, the automaker highlighted its strategy for the compact pickup truck and some of its features and capabilities. As of late, the automaker has been focused on its electric lineup. EVs like the Chevy Silverado EV and Colorado EV have been priorities, but this doesn’t mean Chevy isn’t showing love for its combustion engine vehicles. As the latest gasoline vehicle to debut, the 2024 Chevy Montana offers impressive capability and versatility. We’ll take a closer look at the compact truck and see what consumers can expect.

What to Expect From the 2024 Chevy Montana

Riding on a variant of the GEM platform, the 2024 Montana features a crew-cab body configuration with a Chevy-Blazer-inspired front end. The pickup also features black plastic cladding on its lower body, roof rails, and a sports bar above the bed. The multi-flex cargo bed offers 30.87 cubic feet of space and has an advanced tonneau cover sealing system that provides waterproof protection. About the Chevy Montana, GM South America president and CEO Santiago Chamorro said,

The compact pickup truck also features a forward-wheel drive setup. Those interested in the 2024 Chevy Montana will be happy to know the pickup has entered a special pre-sale period. It will arrive at Chevrolet dealers in Brazil in February 2023. While the Montana will be built at the General Motors Brazil plant, it will also be offered in other South American countries.

The Chevy Suburban’s 250,000-Mile Journey

Longevity In The Chevy Suburban

When it comes to discussions regarding the longevity of a vehicle, it’s nearly impossible not to involve the Chevrolet Suburban in the conversation. Currently, this full-size SUV is in its 12th generation, as it’s been cruising the streets since 1935. Today, this vehicle has served as one of the longest-lasting automobiles on the market.

According to a study conducted by iSeeCars, the Suburban SUV is ranked third on the list of 20 cars, with the greatest lifespan and potential mileage of 265,732 miles or more. The only vehicles with higher potential longevity belong to Toyota, like the Sequoia, ranking at the top with a possible mileage of nearly 300,000 miles.

The Chevy Suburban ranked higher than other vehicles on the list, such as Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade, and Cadillac Escalade ESV.

To gather data for this study, iSeeCars assessed over two million vehicles sold within ten years in the past 20 model years and then ranked the models by the example of their highest-achieving mileage. All the ranked vehicles had a minimum of two percent of units exceeding 200,000 miles, while the elite one percent of the cars journeyed between 230,000 and just below 300,000 miles over the past two decades.

“What we see is a list of highly-durable vehicles, capable of more than a quarter-million miles of use if properly maintained,” said Karl Brauer, iSeeCars Executive Analyst. “And to be clear, this study isn’t reporting the maximum lifespan of these vehicles. This is simply a measure of current odometer readings. Most of these cars are still in use and going strong.”

With relevance to the foundation of this reliable SUV, the current 2023 Chevrolet Suburban has three available powertrain options. These motors involve the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 with an output of 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine producing 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine, which pushes out 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

Underneath the hood, the latest Suburban SUV, along with the 2023 Chevy Tahoe, tags along the GM T1 platform, while production takes its form at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.

Miami Lakes Chevrolet

The 2023 Chevrolet Suburban also has plenty of in-car features to enjoy, such as an 8-inch touchscreen, with an infotainment system that includes wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Wi-Fi, satellite radio, Bluetooth, five USB-A ports, and one USB-C port. It also has helpful driver assist features like forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assistance, automatic high beams, and a following-distance indicator.

When the time comes to purchase the 2023 Suburban, be sure to do it at Miami Lakes Automall. We sell a wide variety of vehicles from the brand that range in various shapes and sizes. View our online new car inventory and chat with a representative for more information.

2023 Chevy Bolt EV Earns J.D. Power ALG Residual Value Award

The 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EV was recently awarded J.D. Power’s 2023 ALG Residual Value Award. Operating as a data analytics and consumer intelligence company, J.D. Power conducts studies to determine the best vehicles in various segments. For its 2023 ALG Residual Value Award, the 2023 Bolt EV was among several recipients chosen for its high resale value. As an EV, the Chevy Bolt proves to be highly efficient and versatile. Its affordability also makes the all-electric hatchback a favorable choice for those just getting into the EV segment. While Chevrolet has been busy working on new EVs like the 2024 Silverado EV and the 2026 Colorado EV, its current EV lineup continues to be competitive. We’ll take a look at the 2023 Chevy Bolt EV and see why it retained its great resale value.

2023 Chevy Bolt EV Offers Great Resale Value

The 2023 Chevy Bolt EV was recently awarded the 2023 ALG Residual Value Award by J.D. Power. As a data analytics company, J.D. Power has served as a key figure in the automotive industry for its reliable consumer research. The consumer intelligence company releases annual surveys and reports that help consumers determine the best-valued vehicles. One of its recent reports was the 2023 ALG Residual Value Award. This award is determined by using an extensive process that utilizes used-vehicle performance data, brand outlook, and product competitiveness. Chevrolet was 1 of 13 brands that were considered for the award. Altogether 291 vehicles were analyzed. Of them, the Chevy Bolt EV and Chevy Silverado were selected.

The 2023 Chevy Bolt EV arrives with similar performance standards as the previous year, but Chevrolet has significantly reduced the price of the electric hatchback. Starting at an MSRP of $25,600 (plus destination fee), the 2023 Bolt EV offers impressive capability and efficiency all at an affordable cost. The hatchback features an electric motor that’s capable of 200 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. This motor sends power to the front wheels and provides the hatchback with quick acceleration. The Bolt EV is able to go from 0-60 mph in just 6.5 seconds. This, combined with an engaging sport mode, provides drivers with a dynamic driving experience.

In its analysis, J.D. Power included various trims across the different brands it considered. The analytics company used averages in its study that were based on percentage share compared to the entire brand lineup. This helped differentiate the differences between trims. The 2023 Chevy Bolt EV offers two different trims, the 1LT and 2LT. The 2LT offers owners a higher level of quality with more luxury features, but it does not improve overall performance or efficiency. Still, given its affordability and efficiency, the electric hatchback proves to be a reliable EV with strong resale value.

Two All-New Chevy Sports Cars Are on the Way According to GM President

Chevrolet has two all-new sports cars on the way. This news comes directly from General Motors president Mark Reuss who said that a pair of Chevy performance vehicles will arrive in 2024. Reuss previously hinted at the introduction of an all-electric Corvette in April which leads many to believe one of these new vehicles may be exactly that. The 2023 Chevy Corvette recently received some new performance upgrades so the introduction of an all-new Corvette is exciting. Especially if it arrives as an electric version with the same high performance everyone loves from the sports car. While not much information was revealed, we’ll see what Reuss said and what consumers can expect from Chevrolet.

Is There An Electric Chevy Corvette on the Way?

According to General Motors (GM) president Mark Reuss, there will be two new Chevy sports cars arriving in 2024. President Reuss had previously stated that an all-electric Corvette would be coming on the brand’s Ultium platform. Alongside an electric Corvette would be a hybrid version of the sports car. While Reuss did not disclose any definitive information about the electric and hybrid Corvette, he said that the names and performance specs would be released as they neared their debut. Fast forward to now and we still do not have much information. All we know is that two sports cars with the Chevy badge are coming as soon as 2024.

According to Reuss, one of the two sports cars will be a new version of the Corvette C8. Currently, the C8 is set to arrive with a powerful V8 engine that will allow the Corvette to exceed 200 mph. Whether this new version will be an all-electric or hybrid version we’re not sure. Speculation is that this new Corvette will carry the E-Ray moniker which was discovered in recent trademark filings. As a successor to the C8, the electric Corvette would likely feature a V8 engine with a front-mounted electric motor. It would also likely have all-wheel drive.

As for the other sports car, Reuss did not mention the name Corvette. This does not mean that the second car will be something entirely new, but rather it could be the long-rumored Zora. This potential hybrid sports car could carry also carry a V8 engine. Reuss mentioned that it would “set the standard of the world for performance for Chevrolet.” This is a bold claim so whatever it may be, it’s certain to be a high-performance vehicle. For now, we’ll be staying tuned for more information.

Which EV Pickup Is Right For You? 2024 Chevy Silverado EV Vs GMC Sierra EV

The all-new, all-electric 2024 Chevy Silverado EV is almost here. Chevrolet has been preparing for its first electric pickup, which is set to launch in early 2023. The Silverado EV will initially be offered with the WT trim, but the more powerful RST First Edition trim will arrive soon after. In friendly competition with the Silverado EV is the 2024 GMC Sierra EV which will come in early 2024. Both EV pickups represent their parent company General Motors, but since one is Chevrolet and the other is GMC, they will feature some differences. As of late, Chevrolet has been ramping up its EV production. This bodes well as a sign of confidence as the automaker believes consumers will show increased interest in its EVs. Since both the Silverado EV and Sierra EV are expected to offer high capability and efficiency, we thought we’d look at both and see what consumers can expect.

Expected Performance From Silverado EV & Sierra EV

The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV is expected to arrive with a dual motor setup capable of 510 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque. These will be the performance standards for the first trim released, the WT. Another trim called the RST First Edition will be available later, and it will feature a similar setup with 664 horsepower and 780 lb-ft of torque. The 2024 GMC Sierra EV is also expected to arrive with a dual motor setup, though the EV pickup will likely feature greater capabilities. The Sierra EV will be available in a high-end Denali Edition 1 trim and offer 754 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque. Both electric pickups are expected to have a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds. They will also feature unique power modes–Wide Open Watts for Chevy and Max Power Mode for GMC.

As for charging and range capabilities, the 2024 Silverado EV will feature a 24-module battery pack with 200 kWh capacity. This will provide the electric pickup with 400 miles of battery range. Owners can charge the Silverado EV at up to 350 kW, adding 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes. The GMC Sierra EV will also feature 400 miles of battery range as both pickup trucks ride on the same EV platform. It will also feature similar charging capabilities to the Silverado EV.

Inside the Silverado EV & Sierra EV

While the Silverado EV and Sierra EV feature similar body styles, their overall details are distinct. The Silverado EV has smoother edges and lines and has a full-width horizontal light line. The Sierra EV is a bit more chiseled and features a large brand plate in place of its front grille. Both trucks will feature a crew cab configuration and a fixed panoramic glass roof. Inside the pickup trucks are where the critical differences lie.

Inside, the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV features a cleaner dash with a more traditional layout. The Silverado offers an 11-inch driver display and a 17-inch wide touchscreen display tilted toward the driver. The 2024 GMC Sierra EV features a central 17-inch touchscreen that is vertically oriented. The pickup also has a smaller driver display. Both pickups still offer physical knobs and buttons as well. The 2024 Silverado EV will start at an MSRP of $40,000 (plus destination fee), while the 2024 Sierra EV will start at an MSRP of $108,685 (plus destination fee). Both pickup trucks will feature additional trims, but the Silverado is the more economically viable option, especially since both trucks offer similar capabilities.

Everything New on the 2023 Chevy Lineup

The New Year of 2023 is right around the corner, bringing a slew of automotive updates, specifically with the Chevrolet brand, including some excitements for the 2024 year. Here’s everything you need to know.

2023 Chevrolet Colorado

The new 2023 Chevrolet Colorado uses a frame snaffled from its larger sibling, the Silverado truck. In company with its 3.1-inch longer wheelbase, this midsize vehicle flaunts a fully revived design on the inside out. Buyers have only one engine to choose from, a 4-cylinder 2.7-liter turbocharger that produces 237-310 hp and 259-430 lb-ft of torque, contingent on the trim. In most cases, it’s equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission, giving life to the rear wheels or an optional four-wheel-drive (4WD) system.

There are many technological features to revel in, such as the standard 11.3-inch infotainment display that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android compatibility. This display uses a Google-styled interface with applications for features like media and navigation. In the front, there is also a USB-A and a USB-C port, along with a wireless charging pad.

2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

The full-size Chevrolet Silverado for 2023 has only gone through minute changes, with the main one being a mightier 3.0-liter turbodiesel I-6 option that produces 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque. This engine can be geared with custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and High Country trims.

The lineup also introduces a ZR2 AEV Bison variant. This off-roader is geared with fiercer bumpers, underbody protection, and off-road suspension. Font tow hooks, 18-inch AEV wheels wrapped in 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires, and the familiar ZR2 AEV Bison badging are just enough to top everything off.

2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500 HD

The bow tie-badged brand applied some significant advancements to the 2024 Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD pickups, with modifications including new exterior styling, six new colors for the interior, and new 18- and 20-inch wheel designs. A new High Country Midnight Edition package involves all-black accents, and the off-road-centered ZR2 trim becomes available on the company’s HD trucks for the first time.

The automaker also stepped up the output game of its turbodiesel V-8 engine to the likes of 470 hp and 975 lb-ft of torque. The old-school 6-speed automatic has also been swapped out for the Allision 10-speed automatic.

New trailer technologies are making their way into this HD-level vehicle. With technology, one can use adaptive cruise control while towing to determine aerodynamic drag, anticipating greater braking distances. The brand’s Transparent Trailer system has also been expanded to collaborate with fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailers, along with the blind-spot monitoring taking responsibility for the trailer’s blind zones.

Chevy’s cabin has been revamped with a larger available 13.4-inch infotainment screen and 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. The truck’s interior also involves a new center stack layout, while High Country trims receive a new center console design with a wireless charger.

2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV

Finally, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV arrives as a standalone model on General Motors’ electric vehicle platform. The all-wheel-drive (AWD) dual-motor setup will generate an incredible 754 hp and 785 lb-ft of torque, which supposedly will push 0-60 mph in under 4.5 seconds. This EV will drive on an adjustable adaptive air suspension and all-wheel steering. Hauling features involve an eTrunk front trunk, Chevy’s Multi-Flex Midgate, and Multi-Flex tailgate.

Reaching inside, the cabin is decked out with a 17.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 14.0-inch head-up display, and an 11.0-inch digital instrument cluster. It also adds a glamorous panoramic glass roof.

The 2023 Chevy Colorado Vs The 2023 Toyota Tacoma, Which Wins Out?

The 2023 Chevy Colorado recently received a new redesign. The mid-size SUV now arrives with a new exterior and interior while maintaining its high capability. Chevrolet has been busy preparing for new EVs like the 2024 Silverado EV and the 2026 Colorado EV. However, this electrification effort has kept the automaker from improving its combustion engine lineup. Within the truck segment, one tough competitor to the 2023 Colorado is the 2023 Toyota Tacoma. The Tacoma has long been a popular mid-size pickup with a lot to offer. Unfortunately, it has received different attention than Chevy Colorado. We thought we’d look at both pickup trucks and see which proves the better choice for the 2023 model year.

2023 Chevy Colorado Vs. 2023 Toyota Tacoma

The 2023 Chevy Colorado has a brand-new look for the 2023 model year. The 2023 Toyota Tacoma receives two new appearance packages; otherwise, the popular mid-size pickup remains relatively unchanged. The Tacoma’s appearance packages add minor details and features, while the 2023 Colorado arrives with a new body design, an updated powertrain, and a redesigned interior cabin. The Colorado is also more affordable than the Tacoma. The 2023 Colorado starts at an MSRP of about $28,000, while the 2023 Tacoma starts at an MSRP of about $30,000. Those interested in the Colorado can get a higher trim for the price of the base Tacoma.

Looking at performance, the 2023 Chevy Colorado takes the gold with its new turbocharged 2.7L inline-four engine. Capable of 237 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque, the 2.7L is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Colorado also offers a 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft torque version of the 2.7L on its higher ZR2 trim. Meanwhile, the 2023 Toyota Tacoma offers a 2.7L four-cylinder engine that delivers 159 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. Higher trims see an upgraded V6 engine capable of 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque, but this still pales compared to the Colorado.

Given the differences between the 2023 Colorado and the 2023 Tacoma, it’s evident that the Chevy Colorado wins out. With more robust performance and greater capability at a lower cost, the Colorado proves to be the more optimal choice. The mid-size pickup offers consumers a new redesign instead of the outdated Tacoma. With the 2023 Chevy Colorado, consumers can also opt for a higher trim while still paying close to the same amount they would with the base Tacoma.

The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer Soldiers On As It Sells Out

It was in 1969 that Chevrolet introduced its dynamic Blazer SUV (originally the K5 Blazer). Since then, it’s been one of the fan favorites among families and mid-size vehicle enthusiasts everywhere. With the automaker making moves on its 2024 model year, there are plenty of reasons worth getting excited about this car icon and newly revamped electric.

Dynamic Specifications

The Blazer EV is arriving in three trims this time: 1LT, 2LT, and RS. This SUV will be made accessible during the summer of 2024, followed by a forceful SS version later. The SS model can speed up to 0-60 mph in under four seconds, with the engine producing 557 horsepower with 648 lb-ft of torque using dual electric motors. Meanwhile, base models will have a single motor with up to 300 horsepower.

Standard features on all 2024 Blazer EVs involve the brand’s Safety Assist package, which encompasses automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assistance with lane departure warnings, forward collision alerts, following distance assistance and indicator, and intelligent high beams.

These safety technologies are not only implemented in regular passenger vehicles. Still, they have also made their way into law enforcement vehicles for 2024 models, including various modifications to the SS trim level, like skid plates, police-rated tires, and additional racks and supports.

Intriguing Features

The 2024 Chevy Blazer EV has a starting price of $44,995 (plus destination fee) for the base 1LT front-wheel-drive (FWD) model. Then, the 2LT goes for $47,595 (plus the destination fee) and can be had in either FWD or all-wheel-drive (AWD). At the same time, the Blazer EV RS will go for $51,995 (plus destination fee) and will be available in any configuration, whether FWD or rear-wheel-drive (RWD) or AWD. Likely the most favored and forceful iteration, the SS is priced at $65,995 (plus the destination fee). Despite the trim, buyers will be granted a standard 8-year or 100,000-mile battery warranty. There is also an optional Regen on Demand system and One Pedal Driving, allowing the car the regenerate some kinetic energy back into the battery to extend the overall range.

With a serious history in the automotive industry with all of its glory and familiarity with Chevy fans, the Blazer EV is progressing into electrics and the rise of stricter emission regulations; this is the perfect time to do it. It appears this vehicle is a hit with the public, as it has already prompted the company to shut down reservations not long after it was made possible to prepare for a purchase. We expect that the remaining models will also disappear at a swift pace if the company opens the booker near the production time. With a mighty SS option, generous range, a reliable car maker, and top-notch design, it isn’t a surprise that the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV has already sold out.

Is The 2022 Chevy Bolt EV a Good Daily Commuter?

The 2022 Chevy Bolt EV recently received new styling both inside and out. The electric hatchback has since seen a revival spurring Chevrolet to increase production. Affordable and practical, the Chevy Bolt EV continues to be a top contender within the EV segment. As of late, Chevrolet has been working on new EVs like the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV and the 2026 Chevy Colorado EV. While these are expected to offer impressive capability and performance, the Chevy Bolt EV is a good introduction to EVs. While not as powerful as the upcoming Silverado and Colorado EV, the Bolt serves those looking for a capable alternative to combustion engine vehicles. As such, we thought we’d look at the electric hatchback and see whether it would make a good choice for the everyday commuter.

How Well Does The 2022 Chevy Bolt EV Perform?

The 2022 Chevy Bolt EV comes equipped with a single electric motor capable of 200 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. This motor sends power to the front wheels and provides the hatchback with good acceleration. The Chevy Bolt can hit 0-60 mph in just 6.5 seconds and offers owners a quick response time. The electric hatchback also has one-pedal driving, which increases regenerative braking. This allows drivers to speed up and slow down using only the accelerator pedal instead of the brakes. All in all, the 2022 Bolt EV offers a dynamic driving experience.

The 2022 Bolt EV offers 259 miles of battery range in range and charging capability. For charging, the Bolt EV comes with a dual-level charging cord that can plug into both level 1 and level 2 outlets. The Bolt has maximum level 2 charging, which has been increased to 11 kW. With a DC fast charger, owners can see 100 miles of range added every 30 minutes. If not, the electric hatchback will typically see a full charge in seven hours. While owners must ensure they get a whole night’s charge, the Bolt EV adds about 2.57 miles of range every minute it charges. To hit 80 percent from 0 will usually take a little more than 2 hours.

One thing that Chevy Bolt owners should consider is that a range of factors can affect battery range. While the Bolt offers 259 miles of range, depending on the weather conditions and driving style, this can increase to 270 miles.
