The Highlights of Awards for Kia Corp in 2021
Kia Corp has been through many changes as of late, going from an automaker with many SUVs to an automaker starting to shine in the sports car category. The name change was announced in May 2021, from Kia Motors to Kia Corp, with a fancy new logo . To help break in the new name, Kia also revealed its 2022 Kia Carnival MPV , a new multi-purpose van meant to take Kia beyond the mass market and land in the luxury part of the industry. This year has been big for Kia, and right at the beginning, the awards and accolades kept coming.
Prestige
Early on and then again later in the year, Kia climbed the ranks during a study by J.D. Power. The first this year would be the Kia Niro EV, ranked as the highest in the battery electric vehicle (BEV) segment during the J.D. Power 2021 Electric Vehicle Experience (EVX) Ownership Study. Kia has been working on electric vehicle (EV) and BEV technology for years, and it finally paid off with the Kia EV6 all-electric hatchback. This EV has become so popular, TopGear recently named the EV6 the Crossover of the Year . Another J.D. Power Study Kia Corp got high marks in was the 2021 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study (IQS). The automaker took home the title of “highest-ranked” model in several vehicle segments.
What list of prestige would be complete with a little something from Car and Driver ? The Kia Telluride , Sorento, Soul, K5, and Rio all received a Car and Driver “2021 Editors’ Choice Award”. This definitely wouldn’t be the first time a Kia model lands on a Car and Driver list either, with the Kia Telluride landing on the 10Best list in 2021 to complete the “Triple Crown” of Automotive Awards last year in 2020. The Telluride just landed on the Car and Driver’s 10Best list for 2022 .
Best for This
Many automotive publications will put together “Best of Lists”, sometimes for the whole year and sometimes for specific categories. Kia Corp is all over that. Three Kia vehicles won “Best Car for the Money” Awards from U.S. News & World Report – the Kia Forte, Soul, and the All-New Sorento. That’s also the fifth year-in-a-row for the Sorento and Soul to land on the list. Looking for a family car? The PARENTS Best Family Cars 2021 list covers a wide selection of new-model vehicles including minivans, three-row SUVs, two-row SUVs, and family sedans, and out of 50 vehicles, the Kia Sedona won Best Value and the Kia Sorento won “Best Redesign” from PARENTS magazine .
Although we wouldn’t call Kia Corp a fleet automaker, there’s still room for surprises. After all, in the spring of 2021, Kia won during the Vincentric 2021 Best Fleet Value in America Awards , held to recognize vehicles with the lowest total cost of ownership over its lifetime. The Kia Forte GT-Line won the award for the compact car segment, the Kia Soul won the award for the compact hatchback segment, and the Kia Sedona won for the minivan segment.
Satisfaction
Kia models also know how to treat their drivers and consumers. Winning a place on the list for the 2021 AutoPacific Vehicle Satisfaction Awards (VSAs), the Kia K5 sports car and the Kia Telluride were named for their respective categories. The new and improved Kia Optima, the K5 was named the most satisfying premium midsize car. Winning awards since its release, the Kia Telluride won the award for the most satisfying Large Crossover SUV. Adding onto the high rankings and awards, the 2022 Edmunds Top Rated Awards recently concluded, and two Kia models, the Telluride and the Kia Seltos won out over 300 vehicles for this competition. It’s clear when shopping for a car by Kia Corp, it’s an award-winning vehicle. You can find your new Kia at Miami Lakes Automall today.
