After talking about all the cool tech in the upcoming 2022 Kia EV6, the first all-electric vehicle without a predecessor from the automaker, it’s time to share some more good news. Coming straight to America, Kia Corp, known as Kia America in the states, will be launching the EV6 in just a few days. Starting June 3 at 10am PST, consumers will be able to start preordering the EV6 First Edition. Be the first of 1500 people who can claim the first EV6 from Kia America with a $100 fully refundable deposit. All pre ordered vehicles will start being delivered during the first quarter of 2022.

EV6 First Edition

Like any great new model, automakers tend to release a launch edition or special edition to celebrate. It’s also a chance to give consumers first dibs, and to show appreciation for such die hard fans, why not add a little extra to the first order…or to the first 1500, for that matter? And being a first for Kia, the automaker is making a special edition for those who place an advanced reservation at Kia.com starting June 3.

What’s so special about the EV6 First Edition? Adding onto the already standard but alluring design, some new tech and features are added. These include the Augmented Reality (AR) Head-Up Display, Remote Smart Parking Assist, a wide sunroof, 20-inch wheels, a premium 14-speaker Meridian audio system with a two-year subscription to SiriusXM. Amping up the power and not just the style, the EV6 First Edition will also feature dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) and a 77.4 kWh battery with a 160kW front motor and a 270kW rear motor, much like the EV6 GT trim to be released later in 2022.

“The all-new EV6 represents the future of Kia and this special edition celebrates our first dedicated electric vehicle’s remarkable debut…We want to celebrate drivers that are ready to take this exciting road with Kia and offer something truly special and unique to complement their EV lifestyles.”- Russell Wager, vice president, marketing, Kia Motors America

The Three Kia EV6 First Edition will also have some unique color combinations to choose from for the exterior and the interior cabin. Inside, consumers have the choice of Glacier with dark green seats, Urban Yellow with black seats, and Steel Gray Matte with black seats. The First Edition will also offer the look of Steel Matte Gray paint on an EV6 with the standard design, but an Urban Yellow exterior color paint job is exclusive to the First Edition. To complete the look are illuminated door sills with the First Edition designation. As always, there is something to denote the number of the unit in production, and consumers will find the numbered badge highlighting the limited production volume in the interior cabin.

Ready to order your 2022 Kia EV6 First Edition? Remember, Kia will start taking orders at Kia.com starting June 3. Once the first 1500 units are spoken for, all other consumers will have to wait for the first edition to be produced and all orders filled before any more EV6 units are ready for order. Let us know if you were one of the lucky ones on Miami Lakes Kia social media.

All the Cool Tech in the EV6

By Jordan Rodriguez | Posted in Kia Dealers in Miami FL, Miami Kia Dealers on Thursday, May 27th, 2021 at 10:29 AM

Last week, we discussed the reveal of the Kia EV6, the very first vehicle to come from the Kia Motors Corp, now Kia Corp, and known as Kia America for Kia Motors America. There was so much information to cover, we decided to split it up a bit. The new powertrain, style, and interior cabin of the EV6 already has a lot going for it, but the technology really sends this electric vehicle into a new age.

Standard and Available Tech Features

Starting with the dashboard, the driver has a panoramic dual integrated 12-inch TFT center cluster displaying vehicle diagnostics, and the infotainment screens form a wide, curved display that extends across the length of the instrument panel. An Augmented Reality (AR) Head-Up Display (HUD) is available, and makes viewing this information easier, including speed and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) alerts, vehicle information, lane guidance and turn-by-turn navigation instructions.

Kia Corp Reveals Specs of Kia EV6

“The EV6 marks a new and transformative era in Kia electrification…This innovative crossover leverages the many benefits of its advanced platform to offer a level of technological excitement and convenience that will provide a superb ownership experience.” – Sean Yoon, president & CEO, Kia North America, Kia America

Attraction starts with the eyes, and the new Kia EV6 starts off with a new design from the minds in Seoul, Frankfurt and Irvine, California. Called an “Opposites United” philosophy, the EV6 crossover brings the best of both worlds together once and for all. Over the years, Kia has been experimenting with its signature tiger nose design with a Tiger Face for the front fascia, and the EV6 is a step up with a “Digital Tiger” grille, with no need for a functioning grill to cool down the engine. It still is a front fascia, of course, and headlamps come with a sequential dynamic light pattern to bring it all together. In the rear is a cross-car rear light cluster, and for choices, consumers can get wheel sizes available in 19, 20 or 21-inches.

Behind the new Digital Tiger face is the core of it all – n energy-dense Nickel-Cobalt-Manganese (80/10/10) battery pack, low-mounted for a low center of gravity and able to power the vehicle with either rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). Available in two sizes – 58.0 kWh and 77.4 kWh – with a total of 576 horsepower with the 77.4 kWh battery with a 160kW front motor and a 270kW rear motor, only available with AWD. With its innovative Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, the EV6 doubles as a portable energy source, providing 1900 watts of power to electrical appliances, devices, tools and recreational equipment thanks to an Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU).

Built on an all-new platform, we covered this bad boy a few months ago, and we knew the E-GMP was going to be a game changer even then. Made of 5 percent high-strength steel (HSS) and ultra-high strength steel (UHSS), the EV6 comes with the world’s first mass-produced integrated drive axle (IDA) for improved comfort and control. With an 11kW on-board charger (OBC) for Level 2 recharging from 10-to-100 percent in 7 hours, 10 minutes, the EV6 also comes with the world’s first patented multi-charging system that supports 400v and 800v DC charging and allows for ultra-fast charging. We’re talking 70 miles added in less than 5 minutes and 210-miles (10-to-80 percent) added in under 18 minutes. You can stretch your legs a bit and juice up in no time.

Thanks to a longer wheelbase, the interior cabin is spacious with a flat floor. As eco-friendly on the inside as the powertrain, this electric crossover was made of recycled plastic, uses 100% vegan leather for the upholstery on several trims, and offers 100% LED lighting inside and out. The seats come with a slim design for more leg room in the rear, and cargo space starts at 27.7 cubic-feet behind the 60/40 split-folding second row, and 53.5 cubic-feet with the second row folded down. There is additional storage space for small items in the vehicle’s front trunk, no longer an engine bay taking up space, and a little added convenience for storing items – a Hands-free Smart Power Tailgate.

This is just the beginning of tech. There is so much, we’re going to do a little cover on it next week. The new UVO link alone, being replaced by the “Kia Connect” connected car system. Be on the lookout for all the cool features coming to the Kia EV6 for entertainment and safety. What do you think of the EV6 so far? Join the discussion on Miami Lakes Automall Kia social media.

When Kia Motors released its new logo, it definitely spoke volumes of the transformation the automaker is going through. No longer spelled out as “KIA” in an opaque oval, the new logo looks like a signature, and able to be seen as “KIA”, or “KM” for Kia Motors, there is also the “Ki”, a type of lifeforce, and the automaker is breathing new life into the lineup. As Kia Motors moves forward with its Plan S Strategy and releases more vehicles like the EV6, the transformation becomes complete with a new name – Kia Corp.

Kia Motors Corporation is no more. Only going by “Kia Corporation”, this allows Kia to expand into various avenues, not just automobiles. With the automaker having expanded into developing EV tech, luxury vehicles like the Kia K8, and consumer-connected services, the company is expanding beyond four wheels. To usher this new stage for the company, Kia is bringing the EV6 to the US under the guise of Kia America to fully adopt its Plan S Strategy and go global and set up shop all over the world.

Kia Motors has been doing really well as of late, revealing all kinds of new vehicles being added to the lineup in the coming years. The very cool all-electric EV6 is looking to be a high-tech automobile, and the high-class luxury sports sedan K8 could set a new standard for Kia Motors interior quality. The automaker recently restyled the Kia Optima for the next generation of the vehicle, turning it into a vicious sports car in the same family of the Kia Stinger. To celebrate, Kia renamed the Optima with the same moniker in South Korea, K5. Kia Motors then did the same when replacing the Kia Sedona, with a newly designed Kia Carnival MPV. Check out the highlights.

Powertrain

Keeping it simple, this new minivan/multi-purpose vehicle comes with four trims, all powered by the same powertrain. Under the hood of each vehicle is a 3.5-liter V6 engine optimized with gasoline direct injection (GDI), capable of generating a best-in-class 290 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission is standard for each trim. It responds well and has just enough punch to say “That’s not a minivan”.

Family Features

Able to seat eight passengers, the 2022 Kia Carnival MPV comes with an interesting second row. Each seat is its own distinct seat, making up three seats versus a split-row bench. Designed with a Slide-Flex seating system, the center slides forward and back, and the seats on either end can slide side-to-side. Reaching a child in the rear is easy, and for older children, the middle seat folds up for a cupholder and somewhere to rest their phone versus their pocket.

Kia Motors is one automaker that continuously finds ways to get involved with the community and the youth. The Great Unknowns Scholarship is a huge boost for the automaker, offering scholarships to students in the U.S. planning to pursue a college undergraduate degree in one of the following discipline areas: Sciences, Technology, Engineering, Arts, or Math (STEAM). Finally, art is appreciated in the world, not just “STEM”, anymore. Another movement by KMA is known as “Accelerate The Good”, having played a part in multiple donations to communities and organizations that help the homeless and hungry youth. Recently, KMA continued its efforts to make a difference with a $250,000 donation to Covenant House.

Covenant House is the largest, primarily privately-funded charity in the U.S. Focused solely on helping homeless and trafficked youth, Covenant House is a sanctuary for many on the streets today. A quarter million is surely a huge help, making it easier to acquire the resources Covenant House needs to provide for those in need. Kia Motors is also no stranger to Covenant House. Back in 2020, during the Super Bowl (yeah, that still happened), Kia Motors was touting its “Give It Everything” slogan, and for every yard gained during the game, Kia Motors donated $1,000 to three of its charity partners – Covenant House, Positive Tomorrows, and StandUp For Kids. This initiative totaled to $1 million.

Earlier this year, Kia Motors unveiled something extraordinary. It was the all-electric Kia EV6. This is a first for the automaker, having always released plug-in hybrid and electric versions of vehicles after an internal combustion engine was the precursor. One exception is the Kia Niro, released in 2017, and the first hybrid compact SUV of its kind; a plug-in hybrid and eventually an electric vehicle followed. The EV6, however, has no precursor, and is starting off as an all-electric vehicle, also referred to as a battery-electric vehicle (BEV). Popularity for the Kia BEV is already rising overseas, with over 7,000 units ordered in Europe alone.

” Kia has opened factory orders for the ground breaking EV6 following a successful European reservation phase. The brand obtained 33,000 prospects, including 7,300 reservations. On top of that, more than 26,000 customers showed interest in Kia’s first dedicated battery electric vehicle. Thanks to this remarkable performance, Kia already secures 300% of the expected sales volume for 2021. Customers will be able to order the EV6 from their local dealer from today, ahead of production starting mid-2021.” – Kia Motors

The Kia Sedona, Kia Motors’ only minivan, is getting replaced in the 2022 model year with the all-new Kia Carnival MPV. That stands for “Multi-purpose Vehicle”, and although the Carnival MPV may be a new take on the Kia Sedona with a new name, it’s been completely reimagined for a new kind of family car. Like the Kia K5, the rebadged and redesigned Kia Optima, the Kia Carnival boosts its “purposefulness” with more convenient and safety features. Making the cabin more roomy and family-friendly, any growing families with newborns or young ones must be wondering about installing car seats. A little list was put together by Cars.com, and we wanted to share some of the most important information.

Perfect Fits

Unless opting in for the second-row lounge seats available on some 2022 Kia Carnival MPV trims, consumers can fit up to three car seats for situating young ones in the second and third-row. As with most vehicles these days, the LATCH child seat restraint system is standard, and the Carnival MPV comes with three sets. The anchors are all easy to find and connect with plenty of clearance around the child or infant. LATCH was designed with child seat safety and stability in mind, so of course it’s one of our perfect fits.

Kia Motors and Google Launch New Kia Service

Kia Motors and the Hyundai Motor Group as a whole are starting to revolutionize the way consumers use and communicate with their cars. Bluetooth wireless technology and voice commands have been around for several years now, but people were using a service or feature, not exactly talking to the car like we talk to Amazon Alexa or Google Home. Kia Motors isn’t quite there yet, but the automaker is inching closer as more technology is made available. Last year it was “Hello Kia”, an Intelligent Personal Agent, and this year it’s a joint venture between Kia and Google.

When you’re working with Google, you’ve finally become a legend. With the new “Kia Service” Google Voice Assistant, everyone with an Android or Google-powered phone with eventually get to use this new feature. Eventually, because the pilot phase for this feature has been launched all the way in Ireland. Why Ireland? Aside from the fact that the “Kia Service” Google Voice Assistant App was jointly developed by Kia Europe and Kia Ireland, I tried to test it on my Google Pixel 4a – no dice.

The 2021 Kia Sportage may be out and the 2021 annual year is still somewhat fresh, especially after all those April showers, but the 2021 model year is already starting to rev up for some automakers. Here we are, almost in May 2021, and Kia Motors has released some of the specs for the 2022 Kia Sportage. New for ’22 is an LX Value Edition Package, a new Nightfall Edition, and upgraded tech. Check out some of the highlights below.

Trims and Powertrain

The number of trims for the 2022 Kia Sportage are still just four, but with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive available on each, Kia has eight different starting MSRPs. The MSRP for the 2022 Kia Sportage ranges from $24,090 to $35,250 (plus destination fee). The lineup is as follows: LX, Nightfall Edition, EX, and SX Turbo. The Nightfall Edition replaces the S trim for 2022.

Two engines are available but come standard on one trim or the other. The LX, Nightfall Edition, and EX trims are all powered by a 2.4L I4 engine with gasoline direct injection (GDI), able to generate up to 181 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. The SX Turbo trim is the only one to come with a 2.0L Turbocharged I4 engine with GDI under the hood. Able to generate 240 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque, it’s mighty for the compact SUV. Regardless of trim or drivetrain, all vehicles come with a six-speed automatic transmission.

New Packages and Upgrades

The LX Value Edition Package mentioned above adds a couple of things to the LX trim for those who get the base trim but want more bang for their buck. This package adds 18-inch dark gray wheels, a Smart key with push button start, and heated front seats. Just a little more convenience, but the price has yet to be announced. Also being added as an upgrade is the panoramic sunroof, now standard on the EX trim.

Technology and safety features are also abound on the 2022 Kia Sportage. Two more packages, the EX Tech Package and SX Turbo have been equipped with new complimentary map updates including new points of interest and ADAS features support. For safety, now standard on all trims are the following: Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Warning, and High Beam Assist. IF looking for extra safety features, Blind-Spot Collision Warning is standard on all trims but the LX, but is made available in the LX Value Edition Package. The same preference goes for Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning.

Consumers can also look forward to an 8-inch touchscreen with UVO link available on the Nightfall Edition with SirusXM Satellite Radio and Voice Recognition. This setup is available with voice-command navigation available on the EX trim. The 2022 Kia Sportage SX Turbo comes with UVO link, voice-command navigation, and SiriusXM Satellite Radio standard.

This is a bit of an early release, but the compact SUV is already available, consumers can start riding around in the 2022 Kia Sportage soon enough. Come to Miami lakes Automall and find your 2022 Kia Sportage today.
