It’s always nice to see big businesses giving back, especially when it’s to a community or an organization that could always use some donations. Every year, Kia Corp gives back by donating to t. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and every so often, Kia makes a donation to the American Reed Cross. The latter is usually done to aid in disaster relief. The last time Kia donated to the American Red Cross was to aid in Hurricane Ian relief efforts with a total of $500,000. 2024 is seeing its share of thunderstorms, tornadoes, and hurricane season got a little crazy. On July 1, 2024, Hurricane Beryl made landfall as a high-end category 4 hurricane, and intensified across the Caribbean Sea as a Category 5 hurricane. Everyone needs a little relief, and Kia America is proud to announce a $250,000 donation to the American Red Cross to support emergency disaster relief and recovery efforts following the devastation of the hurricane.

“Natural disasters like Hurricane Beryl remind us of the importance of solidarity and prompt action…Kia America is dedicated to standing by the communities where our customers and their families live and work. We are committed to helping the greater Houston community rebuild and recover, and we are grateful to the American Red Cross for their unwavering dedication to providing life-saving services during these challenging times.” – SeungKyu (Sean) Yoon, President and CEO of Kia America

This hurricane was a whopper, sweeping through Houston, Texas and surrounding areas. This caused a lot of damage, more than 2.2 million people without power, and thousands of residents lost their homes. It’s really a sad thing to see so many people lose so much due to the unstoppable force of Mother Nature. Home insurance is going to have a field day with this one. Until people can get a roof over their heads and electricity powering their homes, the funds donated by Kia America will aid the Red Cross in providing people with vital resources, including emergency shelter, food, water, and health support to those in need of medical attention caused by the hurricane.

Every year, the Red Cross shelters, feeds, and provides comfort to victims of natural disasters such as Hurricane Beryl. Not just this, but it also supplies about 40% of the nation’s blood supply, so remember – if you donate blood, you’re helping to save a life. The American Red Cross also educates people and teaches skills that can help someone save a life in danger. International humanitarian aid, and support for veterans, military members, and their families is also a focus of the American Red Cross in dire times. Thanks to a nonprofit organization such as this, a lot of people get the help they need after facing disaster.

This donation is all a part of Kia’s “Accelerate the Good” charitable initiative. Since 2019, the automaker has donated more than $30 million to those in need, including treating childhood illness, helping to fight hunger and homelessness, relief for victims of natural disasters, and aid for military families. Want to help them give back? Kia is able to do all of this thanks to all the money it makes off of the many great vehicles in its lineup. You can help them continue to make such charitable donations by buying a new Kia at Miami Lakes Automall.
