Kia America Holds 2023 Year-End Donation Event with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
In 2019, Kia America started the “Accelerate The Good” charitable initiative to bring help and hope to those in need around the nation. It all started with the Great Unknowns Scholarship for students in need looking to pursue higher education in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and/or Math (STEAM). The initiative continued to spread over the next few years, especially in 2022. Over the course of the year, Kia America donated $100,000 towards Tornado Disaster Relief in Georgia, $500,000 to the American Red Cross to aid Hurricane Ian relief efforts in October, and Kia continued the “Accelerate the Good” campaign by donating a total of $600,000 in October to several charities that focus on providing housing, medical care, meals, and help provide greater access to digital learning for the families and children of Bryan County. At the end of 2022, Kia America held a year-end donation event with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and as 2023 comes to a close, the automaker continues the tradition of supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for the second consecutive year.
“Kia is proud to once again partner with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to drive awareness of their all-important mission and provide funds to help children and their families receive the world-class care and support they deserve…After 15 months of consecutive year-over-year sales growth, we anticipate a strong finish to 2023 and look forward to Kia making an even more sizable donation than we did last year. Kia is honored to be a small part of the impact St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital makes on the lives of people nationwide.” – Steven Center, COO and EVP, Kia America
It’s true, Kia America and the Kia Corp as a whole have been kicking butt lately. It’s no wonder the South Korean automaker has been releasing new battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) and BEV concepts like wildfire, including the Kia EV6, Kia EV9, Kia EV5, and Kia EV4 and EV3 concepts. After 2023 saw maybe one large donation this year, it’s easy to think Kia forgot about the “Accelerate the Good” initiative and focused more on its Plan S Strategy to take over the world of BEVs in the auto industry and the market. So, it’s nice to see the automaker is choosing to give back after all of that success and use its large sales growth to give back once again. This year, the minimum Kia is aiming for is a $1,500,000 donation, but consumers can help increase that donation. Between November 16, 2023, and January 2, 2024, for every new eligible Kia vehicle sold, or leased, and delivered in the U.S., Kia will donate a little more towards St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
In addition to the charity drive, Kia is also “driving” awareness about St. Jude and its commitment to families whose children are diagnosed with cancer and other life-threatening diseases. A 30-second broadcast spot entitled “The Season of Giving Back” shows how St. Jude and Kia help kids experience the holidays without needing to leave the hospital. You can watch the quick ad below.
Last year, Kia donated a total of $1.35 million to St. Jude and was named the 2023 St. Jude New Corporate Partner of the Year. Let’s help them go even bigger this year. Kia America is encouraging its employees, dealer network, and vendor partners to provide additional support to the cause. You can help as well by buying a new Kia from Miami Lakes Automall.
