Updates for the 2025 Kia Sorento
The Kia Sorento SUV has attracted consumers for years due to its rich interior and exterior features. As Kia continues to advance its lineup with electric powertrain offerings, automatic safety features, and futuristic technology, more and more models will be there to benefit. Already pretty popular for its hybrid and plug-in hybrid release, the Sorento returns to 2025 with small changes to the lineup and some blacked-out appearance features. Check out what’s new for the 2025 Kia Sorento.
Surprisingly, the starting MSRP between 2024 and 2025 has stayed the same, a somewhat unusual occurrence. For 2024 and 2025, the Kia Sorento has a starting MSRP of $31,990 (plus destination fee). With a total of nine trims – LX, S, EX, and SX with front-wheel drive, plus the S, X-Line EX, X-Line SX, X-Line SX-Prestige, and X-Pro SX-Prestige with all-wheel drive – there are two powertrain options still available. The base LX trim and the S trims are powered by a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine able to generate 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. The rest of the lineup is still powered by a Turbocharged 2.5 liter 4-cylinder engine, able to generate 281 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque.
The exterior features are pretty strong for the Sorento, offering many standard features, such as automatic headlights, LED projector headlights, LED Daytime Running Lights, LED positioning lights, high beam assist, privacy glass, a sound-absorbing windshield, solar control glass, and heated exterior mirrors with LED turn signals. The X-Line and X-Pro trims are getting a little extra attitude this year, with black badging added, including a black Kia logo, and black wheels in the front and back, plus a black tailgate emblem. It’s unclear if Kia will be officially releasing a “blacked-out” appearance package for the Sorento, but the wheels and emblems usually get the most of the attention, plus a black paint job with a black-out package. In terms of exterior paint, a Panthera Metal exterior color will replace Gravity Gray for 2025.
No change for the interior, with cloth upholstery the standard for the LX base trim, but SynTex upholstery for the S, EX, X-Line EX, SX, and X-Line SX trims. Only the SX-Prestige and X-pro SX Prestige come with genuine leather upholstery and a SynTex headliner. A 6-way manually-adjustable driver’s seat and 4-way manually-adjustable front passenger seat are standard, but consumers can get a little more comfortable with a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat with 2-way power lumbar support adjustment and an 8-way power adjustable passenger seat for the majority of the lineup. As always, the Prestige trims get a little extra with a 12-way power adjustable driver’s seat with 4-way lumbar support adjustment with power thigh extension and a 10-way power adjustable passenger seat with 2-way power lumbar support adjustment. Heated front seats are available past the LX base trim.
The interior has become fully digital in recent years, with a total of 24 inches of digital screens including a 12.3-inch curved instrument display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen display past the LX base trim. All trims come with Kia Connect, capable of wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM radio, Bluetooth wireless connectivity. As we mentioned, the safety features in the Sorento are plenty, including blind-spot collision warning with parallel exit; forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian, cyclist, and junction turning detection; rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist; lane departure warning; lane keeping assist; lane following assist; intelligent speed assist’ lane vehicle departure warning; a driver attention warning system; and safe exit assist all standard.
