2021 shook up the auto industry with the semiconductor chip shortage, but some vehicles managed to prevail regardless of what lack of resources they may be enduring. One of these automakers was Mitsubishi Motors, having spent its time and resources on the all-new and improved 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV. Kicking things off on Amazon Live, Mitsubishi Motors launched its new “Thunderstruck ” campaign, featuring music from AC/DC and highlighting features of the new SUV in a flash way. Winning awards all throughout the year, the 2022 Outlander was just named “SUV of the Year” by another publication, Puros Autos , during their “Latin Flavor Cars of the Year 2021” awards.

With all the awards Mitsubishi Motors earned, especially for the new Outlander, it comes as no surprise that more publications would be naming the SUV in their “Best of the Year” lists. The name Puros Autos may not be well-known, but it’s a largely trusted source on the web and the go-to site for the Hispanic demographic of the auto market. According to Puros Autos , one-out-of-every-four-cars purchased in the U.S. is by a Hispanic consumer, slowly making its way to a three-to-one ratio of the consumer base. With that in mind, the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander also has the highest percentage of Hispanic buyers in the industry today.

“The Hispanic market is vitally important to Mitsubishi Motors, and we are honored to receive the coveted Latin Flavor Car of the Year Award from important industry voice Puros Autos…Since the launch of our all-new flagship in 2021, Outlander has earned awards for its bold design, luxurious interior and superior value, and broken long-standing sales records for the brand along the way. We are excited to build on that momentum in 2022.” – Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) Chief Operating Officer Mark Chaffin

In September 2021, the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander earned a Top Safety Pick Plus (TSP+) rating from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS). A leading organization in the industry for testing vehicles for their crashworthiness, the IIHS puts every vehicle released through six crash tests to measure how well it absorbs impact and can mitigate damage to passengers in the incident of various collisions. Any advanced safety features that may also improve the safety of a vehicle are also taken into consideration, and to earn a TSP+, a vehicle must receive the highest ratings in all six tests and come with advanced safety features. This is a sure thing with the 2022 Outlander – various trim levels come with Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM), Predictive Forward Collision Warning (PFCW), Active Blind Spot Assist (ABSA), Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Lane Departure Warning and Prevention (LDW & LDP), Driver Attention Alert, Rear Automatic Emergency Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Automatic High Beam (AHB), Hill Descent Control (HDC), Trailer Stability Assist (TSA), and a Multiview Camera system.

The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander also severely upgraded the interior for this year. If going up to the high-tier trim level, the SEL Touring trim, consumers can get an SUV equipped with LED front fog lights, a hands free power remote liftgate, power panoramic sunroof, synthetic leather seating surfaces, triple-zone automatic climate control, heated front and rear seats, leather-wrapped, heated steering wheel and a leather-wrapped shift knob that make the cabin more luxurious than ever. The Bose™ premium audio 10-speaker system is a nice addition, as well as the 9-inch Smartphone-link Display Audio with Navigation – SiriusXM™ with 3-month All Access trial, HD Radio, and smartphone wireless charging. It’s no wonder the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander landed on the WardsAuto “10 Best Interiors List ”. Looking for a safe and luxurious SUV in 2022?
