Mitsubishi Outlander Wins Crossover Utility of the Year by HMPA 2022
The all-new 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander sure has been quite the big news for Mitsubishi Motors. Then “Thunderstruck” campaign still captures attention when the ad plays, and the automaker is gearing up to launch a new lineup. Before it does that, the current lineup is getting next generation models (except for the Mirage and Mirage G4 – what, no love for the sedans and hatchbacks?). The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance shared its plans for the future with Alliance 2030 , and it seems like something big is about to happen. Even if those plans are for way in the future, the Mitsubishi Motors lineup today is prime for automotive publications “Best of” lists and awards. In fact, although clearly an SUV, the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander has been named Crossover Utility of the Year by the Hispanic Motor Press, during their annual Hispanic Motor Press Awards.

This isn’t the first time the Mitsubishi Outlander has been highlighted by the Hispanic community. Back in January, 2022, Hispanic consumers voted for the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander as the SUV of the Year by another publication, Puros Autos, during their “Latin Flavor Cars of the Year 2021” awards. According to Puros Autos , the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander also has the highest percentage of Hispanic buyers in the industry. According to Ricardo Rodriguez-Long, founder and president of the Hispanic Motor Press and editor-in-chief at Garage Latino, Hispanic consumers make up 30-percent of the growth in new-vehicle sales.
Going on for 12 years the Hispanic Motor Press Awards (HMPA) puts together a various panel of judges, consisting of independent Hispanic automotive journalists, content creators, and industry influencers selected by the organization’s advisory board every year. The total comes out to 20 jury members that go on to test more than 100 new vehicles. Every vehicle admitted into the competition is tested based on overall design, comfort, safety, economy, handling, performance, functionality, infotainment integration, interior design, environmental requirements, driver satisfaction, and price. Once again, the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV stands out amongst the crowd of the growing SUV and crossover market in the industry.Since its launch, the next-generation of the Mitsubishi Outlander has been making waves. Setting monthly and quarterly sales records and accounting for 33-percent of overall sales in 2021, this SUV made Mitsubishi Motors profitable again.
