Kia Corp sure is busy these days, releasing new models every so often, like the reveal of the all-new 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid, the Kia EV9 concept (an all-electric SUV), and still on everyone’s mind – the Guinness World record-breaking Kia EV6. The newest model being teased by the automaker is the Kia Carens, a highly-anticipated model due for its world premiere this month on December, 16 2021. It’s so close, and based on the teaser concept sketch, we can see a lot of old and a handful of new styling cues. We just wonder how the name is pronounced. Hopefully it’s not “Karens”.

“The Kia Carens perfectly embodies our latest design philosophy, ‘Opposites United’, and it successfully combines sportiness with a sophisticated personality and style with unique aesthetics…The Kia Carens is a true reflection on what today’s customers want from their three-row vehicles.” – Karim Habib, Senior Vice President and Head of Kia Design Center

Kia Corp has always been known as a mass-market brand, also known as an automaker that can be found all across the market. It doesn’t fit into one specific niche, but a mass-market brand usually bounces off the barrier known as “luxury brand” vehicles. The same could be said for Kia Corp, but as of late, the automaker has been blurring the lines of what constitutes a “luxury brand”. First released in 2019, the Kia Telluride SUV is not only the largest SUV in the lineup, but won the “Triple Crown” of Automotive Awards in its first year. When Kia first released the new Kia Carnival MPV this summer (2021), the automaker took its first step into the luxury segment with the options available in this “multi-purpose vehicle”.

The Kia Carens continues the trend with the exterior already boasting a new design and styling, starting with the Kia’s unique Tiger Face design for the front fascia, bold lines with five strong pillars, plus a highlighted intake grille, LED headlamps, and daytime running lights (DRLs). Inside, the high-tech wraparound dash looks a little futuristic, giving the impression of a wide and luxurious cabin, but we’ll know for sure on the 15th. At the center of the dash seems to be a 10.25-inch Audio Video Navigation Telematics (AVNT) system, another touch of modern tech for the luxury concept.

J.D. Power called Kia Corp the highest ranked mass-market automaker during its 2020 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study. If at the top of mass-market brands, then it’s time to break ground in the luxury market. Alongside the Kia Carnival MPV is a concept revealed earlier this year, the Luxury K8 Sports Sedan. Designed with a high-class interior with detailed finishing on wood surfaces, elegantly stitched patterns on Napa leather, a 12-inch digital cluster and a 12-inch infotainment system for the dashboard, and a 14-speaker premium sound system are a couple of the highlights that make this sedan stand apart. Taking notes from the new Kia K5 that replaces the Optima, sports cars are starting to make a comeback with the Kia Corp.

On that note, when the Kia Stinger first came out, many heads were turned by the new sports car from Kia. Even more heads were turning when the Kia Stinger GT, with the 2021 Stinger starting at $33,090 (plus destination fee), could out race luxury vehicles like the A Mercedes-Benz CLS 550, a BMW 540i, and even the Jaguar F-Type. Those vehicles are said to be high-performing luxury vehicles, costing upwards of $50k.

It doesn’t take a genius to realize they can get luxury and power at a more affordable price when shopping for a new Kia vehicle. Find your new Kia at Miami Lakes Automall today.
