Electrified Kia Models Continue to Win Awards in Spring 2023

The Kia Corp has appeared in automotive news and publications a lot lately, and it’s all good news. Winning awards just about every week since 2023 started, the automaker constantly pops up in “Best of” lists, awards competitions, and long-term studies. Following its Plan S Strategy, empowered by its announcement during the Kia 2022 CEO Investor Day to release at least two new battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) every year between 2023 and 2027, the automaker unveiled the Kia EV5 Concept at 2023 Chinese EV Day a week after the official reveal of the Kia EV9 all-electric SUV. Becoming very popular in the industry, BEVs like the EV6 just can’t keep away from the spotlight, winning another award from U.S. News and World Report. Sharing the winnings with the Niro models, the EV6 and Niro Hybrid landed on the list for the “2023 Best Hybrid and Electric Car” awards.
“Kia continues to advance the art of delivering exceptional electrified vehicles, which is why we are especially proud to see the 2023 Niro Hybrid join the EV6 on this list of top industry achievers,” – Steven Center, COO & EVP, Kia America
The U.S. News & World Report has been fairly busy as of late, releasing a new list and announcing winners every few weeks. Named by the U.S. News & World Report during its annual 2023 Best Cars for the Money awards, three Kia models made the list. In late-March Kia made another appearance during the annual “Best Cars for Families” by U.S. News & World Report. Should it be any surprise that the automaker topped the charts again for the U.S. News and World Report in the “2023 Best Hybrid and Electric Car” awards? Winners were selected by the editors of U.S. News based on overall scores from the U.S. News Best Car Rankings, as well as their respective starting prices, charging rates, and EPA-estimated fuel economy, and range data. Over 100 new vehicles were entered into the competition, but only nine made the cut.
A large resources for informing shoppers about some of the best vehicles currently available in the market, U.S. News & World Report provides consumers with extensive reports, reviews, and many awards competitions. Reaching more than 81 million visitors over the past year, 70-percent reported that they visited U.S. News to aid with their car-purchasing decision. That’s a large audience, and now they all know that the 2023 Kia EV6 and Kia Niro Hybrid are at the top of the list for hybrid and battery-electric vehicles (BEVs). The Niro Hybrid, which was named “Best Hybrid SUV” for the first time ever, and the second consecutive year that the EV6 was named as the “Best Electric Vehicle.”
Not being shown up by its plug-in hybrid counterpart, the Kia Niro EV also landed on an awards list in March 2023. Cars.com recently concluded another awards competition for BEVs and recognized the 2023 Kia Niro EV as the “Top Pick: Commuter EV.” A second category-level award from Cars.com, this win follows the Niro Hybrid being named Cars.com’s Best Car of 2023. The Kia Niro EV was among many other BEVs in four categories, and came out on top due to the features and efficiency it offers to meet consumer and commuter demand.
