2018 Kia Stinger Continues to Win Awards
IF you thought the 2018 Kia Stinger was done winning awards, then you are mistaken, friend. Having first debuted in 2017 at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, the sporty sedan from Kia Motors continued to win hearts and awards from all over. The 2018 Kia Stinger is a revolutionary vehicle for Kia Motors and it has set the bar pretty high for the future of sports cars. The amount of power, control and convenience offered in all 2018 Kia Stinger trims is second-to-none.
Back when the 2018 Kia Stinger was first released, every auto blog wanted to get their hands on a new model for a first-drive review. Organizations like AutoGuide.com also made a leap for the Stinger when it came time to survey and test vehicles for their 2018 “Car of the Year” Award . Although going up against several competitors, the Kia Stinger not only won the 2018 Car of the Year award from AutoGuide.com but also the “2018 AutoGuide.com Reader’s Choice Car of the Year Award.”
“It’s the kind of disruptive car that will send its competitors kind of scrambling to keep up. Once you drive it, it really becomes obvious that this [the Kia Stinger] is something special. And this will change things for Kia as a brand and might even change things for the whole industry”. – Jodi Lai, Editor-in-Chief at AutoGuide.com.
While at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show, the 2018 Kia Stinger was also named the “Best Production Car of the Year” and won the 2018 Shift Award Vehicle of the Year during the latest award ceremony hosted by _ Roadshow by CNET. _ In the same year as its release, the Kia Stinger won award after award. One would think it was gunning for the Chrysler Pacifica with how many awards that minivan received after its debut.
“To return this year with Stinger being recognized by the Roadshow by CNET editors as the 2018 vehicle of the year is a tremendous achievement, and is a testament to the thousands of Kia employees around the world that worked to bring the Stinger to market.” – Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning, Kia Motors America (KMA).
Now, MotorWeek’s 2018 “Best of the Year” award also goes to the 2018 Kia Stinger. Announced at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show, the nation’s largest consumer automotive showcase for 37 years, MotorWeek evaluated thousands of distinctive cars deserving of the “Best of the Year” award. However, who can really compete with the Kia Stinger, a luxury-sport sedan that also makes a name for itself in the compact European sport sedan segment?
“Dynamic in both design and quality, the Stinger is a superlative example of how to successfully break into the established European sport sedan market – no easy task – but the Stinger proves it has what it takes … Delivering on both style and drive, the Stinger is incredibly responsive with great power as well as solid handling and brakes. That’s why the Stinger won our staff’s vote in the “Best Sport Sedan” category, which then put it in the running for our ‘Best of the Year’ honor.” – MotorWeek creator and host John Davis.
Three more trophies were won by the Kia Stinger at the 2018 iF Design Awards. We already knew the striking design of the Kia Stinger was trending, what with other Kia Motors vehicles copying the swept-back roof look, like the 2019 Kia Forte during its debut at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. In terms of the award, more precisely, the Kia Stinger GT and the upcoming Kia Stonic won awards in the “Product Design” category. We didn’t think there was much difference between the 2018 Kia Stinger trims in terms of looks, but the GT trims come with a high gloss black hood trim, black chrome accents around the body, and 19-inch “GT style” wheels. Not enough to really set the three trims apart from the rest of the lineup, but when it comes to winning an award for style, may as well present the best.
