2018 Kia Stinger vs 2018 Porsche Paramera vs BMW 640i

February 15th, 2018 by

See for yourself what makes the 2018 Kia Stinger such an exciting vehicle, right from inception. Take a closer look at the comparison in the video below between the Kia Stinger GT, the BMW 640i and Porsche Panamera. Testing was done by AMCI Testing, an independent company, and it included four tests (0-60 mph acceleration test, cornering test, a closed-course lap, and the slalom) designed to showcase the unique abilities of these vehicles.

Did you think this would be a fair race between the comparison of a Kia and a Porsche. Yes, yes. Yes, indeed! Most readers would be surprised to know the 2018 Kia Stinger is as fast (yes, it is) reliable (yes, it is.) and stunningly cheaper than the Porsche Paramera. (Yes, of course!)

Price Point

What really makes this competition unique is the price difference between both models. The Kia Stinger and the Porsche Panamera are both performance sportscars, but there’s a huge price difference between the two models. The 2018 Kia Stinger GT with Limited Slip Differential package is $41,250 (plus destination fees) and the 2018 Porsche Panamera with a 3.0-liter V6 engine has a starting MSRP of $89,600, which is more than double the cost of the Kia Stinger!!

Engine

The 2018 Kia Stinger GT produces 365 horsepower with 376-lb-ft of torque with a gusty twin turbo 3.3-liter V6 engine. The 2018 Kia Stinger also has a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine as well. The Porsche Panamera 3.0-liter V6 engine.

Acceleration

The 2018 Kia Stinger has wicked fast speed and gets up 168 MPH, and it accelerates from 0-60 MPH in 4.6 seconds, which was faster than the Porsche Panamera. The Porsche Panamera accelerates from 0-60 mph in more than 5.1 seconds, hitting 192 MPH as a top speed. Remarkable speed and acceleration from the 2018 Kia Stinger to beat the competition.

Corner Steering and Turning Comparison

While the Kia Stinger is faster than the Porsche, it didn’t grip quite as well as the Porsche Panamera during the corner G-Force test, but it performed better than the 2018 BMW 640i Gran Coupe M Sport. Unless you’re traveling at very high speeds while turning, that’s not important enough to make any driver want a Porsche over the 2018 Kia Stinger.

Slalom

Moving through a straight line while curving around cones presented no problem for the Kia Stinger as it was only 0.2 seconds slower than the the time the Porsche Panamera 3.0-liter V6 achieved. Moving fluidly, showing the ultimate response speed that owners of the 2018 Kia Stinger can expect fast performance that’s exactly what makes the ride so exciting.

Closed-Course Lap Performance

In the closed-course lap, the 2018 Kia Stinger was able to showcase that it’s more than just a sporty looking vehicle. In the test, the Stinger proved to be a fast vehicle with impressive speed and performance as it completed the closed-course lap ahead of both the Porsche Panamera and BMW 640i Gran Coupe M Sport with a time of 45.70 seconds. Yeah, that’s right, the Kia Stinger beat the BMW 640i Gran Coupe M Sport in all four tests.
