Kia Motors is sure enjoying the spotlight in the auto industry lately. Ever since they released the 2018 Kia Niro hybrid crossover, everyone’s been turned on their heads. Chrysler may have come out with the world’s first hybrid minivan, but a hybrid crossover? And coming soon is the Kia Telluride, a hybrid SUV, and the Kia Niro Plug-in Hybrid was recently added to the Kia Motors lineup. After the release of the Niro, Kia released the 2018 Kia Stinger, a wonderful sports sedan that drives, looks, and feels like a muscle car. Even with all these new advancements and developments, U.S. News and World Report highlighted the fact that Kia Motors has always had great products, honoring the Kia Soul and Sorento with a special award.
The U.S. News and World Report consistently compares cars based on their safety, reliability, and a consensus of industry experts’ opinions, along with the car’s value. To measure such value, U.S. News and World Report also looks at a combination of a vehicle’s five-year total cost of ownership and the average price paid for the vehicle at the time the awards are published. Following this, cars are ranked in fourteen categories for quality and value in the automotive industry. For the second year in a row, the Kia Soul was honored with the Best Compact Car for the Money award and Kia Sorento claimed the Best 3-Row SUV for the Money award.
“Winning for the second consecutive year, both the Kia Soul and Sorento continue to be class leaders when it comes to offering buyers a smart balance of quality features, utility, comfort and performance, as well as long-term value.” – Jamie Page Deaton, managing editor, U.S. News & World Report .
The iconic Kia Soul continues to be a symbol of style and class, demonstrating that an urban passenger vehicle can be a fun, funky, and functional approach to everyday driving. The 2018 Kia Soul upgraded its infotainment for the 2018 model year going forward, expanding the availability of UVO eServices across the model range and adding two packages for further upgrades. The Base Convenience Package can add the innovative infotainment system to low-tier trims, where as the Soul Plus comes with UVO eServices as standard equipment. A Soul Plus Primo Package has also been added, now adding Smart Cruise Control (SCC) and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) to the Kia Soul. A third package, the new Kia Soul Plus Primo “Lit” Package includes HID headlights and LED positioning lights to enhance the Kia Soul’s driving and handling. These packages give the 2018 Kia Soul a Top Safety Pick + by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
When it comes to the Best 3-Row SUV for the Money, the 2018 Kia Sorento offers refined utility, various seating configurations, and advanced technology. Driver assistance features, including Autonomous Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Advanced Smart Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Dynamic Bending Lights were all made available to the 2018 Sorento for additional safety. These landed the 2018 Kia Sorento a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS.
“We are honored that Soul and Sorento were recognized as offering tremendous quality and value within their respective categories for the second consecutive year … These awards are further proof that Kia vehicles are not only fun to drive, but also couple outstanding reliability with a low total cost of ownership.” – Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning, Kia Motors America.
