The Dodge brand has grown in popularity and offered seemingly better and better muscle car options for customers. The truth is Dodge really has upped the ante for vehicles in terms of production and horsepower, among other qualities its customers embrace. Looking back at just the last half-decade we can see just how improved the Dodge muscle lineup has grown. When the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat was introduced, it was a landmark effort. The first SRT Hellcat would offer 707 horsepower and hit a remarkable 11.2-second quarter-mile effort. Dodge would surpass this total with more recent efforts in the following years. Let’s take a look at where the Dodge brand has grown and exceeded previous efforts with unmatched gusto.

Looking Back At the 2015 Dodge Challenger

The first SRT Hellcat would offer 707 horsepower and hit a remarkable 11.2-second quarter-mile effort. Dodge would surpass this total with more recent efforts in the following years. Let’s take a look at where the Dodge brand has grown and exceeded previous efforts with unmatched gusto.

Former President and CEO of Dodge and SRT Brands, Tim Kuniskis, remarked when the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat debuted that Dodge was “reaching deep into our history and bringing back the notion from the muscle car ear of the street and strip dual-purpose cars”. This was just the first effort to embark on a path that includes new muscle cars for new customers to fall for the love of racing and the muscle Dodge provides. The goal for Dodge was to make a muscle car serve two purposes and this would further be realized when the following year Dodge offered the 2016 Challenger.

Dodge Improved Challenger In New Ways For 2016 and 2017

Dodge had redesigned the Challenger the year prior, but when the 2016 model year came out it offered the most muscle ever offered in a production vehicle. The supercharged 6.2-Liter HEMI SRT V8 engine offered 650 ft-lb of torque and hit a top speed of 199 mph. While this would see to be impressive, as the rival brand Chevrolet and its Camaro only hit 455 horsepower and the Challenger was over 700 horsepower, the 2017 model year was even better. The 2017 Dodge Challenger GT was the first all-wheel-drive muscle car and offered launch control to help ensure an easier start on drag strips. The following model year offered something we’re still talking about to this day.

The Most Impressive Dodge Challenger Models Yet

The 2018 model year for the Dodge brand offered the rare and exclusive 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon . This was the fastest production muscle car and it wasn’t topped by any vehicle since, with the exception of the new 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock. The 2018 Dodge Challenger offered the SRT Hellcat and the SRT Hellcat Widebody, but the star vehicle was the SRT Demon. With high-octane fuel, the output for the engine was 840 horsepower and 770 lb-ft of torque. The Dodge brand wound up creating cousins of the SRT Demon in the following years with muscle cars are just as exclusive as the SRT Demon. Look no further than the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye .

More Demon Parts For Customers To Enjoy

Dodge wound up earning lots of attention when parts of the SRT Demon found its way into both the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye and this year’s 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock . While the SRT Hellcat Redeye offered “only” 797 horsepower, the SRT Super Stock hit over 800 horsepower and became only the second Dodge vehicle to offer customers such unique strength and power. In fact, the SRT Super Stock is perhaps the most impressive Challenger ever made. So, what does Dodge have in store for buyers in the coming years? We can expect only remarkable results and some of the world’s finest engineering for the company responsible for putting muscle cars back on the map in the past decade.
