We can’t say we’re surprised that the all-new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica was named an I.I.H.S Top Safety Pick+. As the creators of the first minivan, Chrysler knows safety is an important factor when consumers are shopping for a minivan, so safety features were at the top of the list when Chrysler was designing a minivan to replace the Chrysler Town & Country.

The all-new Pacifica goes above and beyond typical minivan standards as it challenges the “soccer mom minivan” reputation. Loaded with style, entertainment options and tons of convenience features, the Pacifica is changing people’s minds when shopping for a new family vehicle.

Since the Pacifica was released in April 2016, it has won several awards for its design. Awards include the top award in the “Affordable Panoramic” category at SAMA’s Topless in Miami , and a place on WardsAuto’s 10 Best Lists for user experience and interior design, but one of the important titles the Pacifica earned is its title as an I.I.H.S. Top Safety Pick+.

The Pacifica features a variety of standard safety features to help keep the driver and passengers safe. In addition to the Pacifica’s high-strength steel used on 72 percent of the minivan’s body structure, the Pacifica is surrounded by a variety of airbags including advanced multistage front airbags, s upplemental side-curtain airbags in all rows and s upplemental front seat-mounted side airbags . Other standard safety features include a ParkView rear backup camera, sliding door alert warning and latch anchors for child seats.

In addition to the standard features, buyers also have the option of many available safety technology systems that work to prevent collisions. Examples of preventative safety tech are LaneSense Lane Departure Warning with lane keep assist feature, full speed forward collision warning plus, a 360-degree surround view camera, and the ParkSense rear park assist system with stop technology. So what do all of those features do?

LaneSense Lane Departure Warning with lane keep assist feature measures the vehicle’s position within lane boundaries and the system alerts drivers during unintentional lane drifts and will help course correct the vehicle back into the lane if the driver does not respond. It also checks blind spots.

Then there is full speed forward collision warning plus, which not only warns drivers if the vehicle is about to hit someone or something in front of the vehicle, but the system will brake for drivers and bring the vehicle to a full stop when necessary.

The 360-degree surround camera provides a outside view of all angles of the vehicle and displays the aerial view on the vehicle’s touchscreen. This let’s drivers know exactly what is surrounding the car at all times.

ParkSense rear park assist system with stop technology helps to guide drivers into a parking spot and will stop the vehicle if it detects it is too close to an object or another car.
