Outlander Sport SEL is an Affordable, Loaded + Modern Crossover SUV

February 15th, 2018 by

Crossover SUVs are all the rage right now, and the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is a great crossover option. The Outlander Sport lineup consists of four different trims and of those trims, the Outlander Sport SEL has all of the bells and whistles, here’s a closer look at everything it has to offer.

The 2018 Outlander Sport is equipped with a 2.4-liter MIVEC DOHC four-cylinder engine, which is the most powerful engine available on the Outlander Sport. The 2.4L engine produces 168 horsepower and 167 lb-ft of torque, which is a good amount of power for city driving and highway driving because it is enough to help the vehicle accelerate quickly, but efficiently. The Outlander Sport has a great fuel economy for a crossover SUV and it averages 23 mpg in the city, 29 mpg on the highway and it has a combined city/highway fuel economy of 25 mpg.

The Outlander Sport SEL is a great option for drivers that want an affordable crossover that can go off the beaten path because when it is equipped with all-wheel-control (AWC) (Mitsubishi’s unique all-wheel-drive design) it has a starting MSRP of $25,995 (plus destination fee), which is a bargain compared to other crossovers that have as many features as the Outlander Sport SEL and all-wheel-drive. Also, the Outlander Sport SEL has a standard ground clearance of 8.5 inches, which is a .1-inch difference than the standard ground clearance of the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The Outlander Sport SEL has all of the features the average buyer wants on a new crossover. It comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen display, rearview backup camera and heated front seats. The Outlander Sport has a spacious cabin that offers seating for five passengers and the second-row seat is a 60/40 split fold-down rear seatback, so users can easily reconfigure the seats for extra cargo when needed. The Outlander Sport SEL is fitted with leather seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, shift knob and parking brake handle.

The vehicle’s 7-inch touchscreen gives users access to the digital HD radio, rearview camera and its compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The crossover is also fitted with six speakers, two 12-volt accessory outlets and dual USB ports, which makes it possible to charge multiple mobile devices at once.

In addition to the Outlander Sport SEL being an extremely affordable crossover ($24,495 for front-wheel-drive and $25,995 for AWC (plus destination fees)), the Outlander Sport is also a financially savvy option because it is backed by one of the best warranties in the auto industry. Mitsubishi backs all vehicles with a five-year or 60,000-mile limited basic warranty and a 10-year or 100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, which means buyers can feel confident they won’t incur any large repair costs for a significant amount of time.
