2017 is right around the corner and new 2017 car models have begun showing up in showrooms across the nation, especially at Mitsubishi dealerships. Mitsubishi has already released three 2017 models, the Mirage, Mirage G4 and i-Miev, and in August 2016, they released the 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer . Check out the highlights of the new 2017 Lancer model.

Coming in 2017

New stuff! You can’t expect car manufacturers to pump out something new every year, sometimes they stick to what they know, and that’s alright. However, when they add a little something extra it’s a nice surprise and worth the mention. In the new 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer, a rear camera display and an all-new 6.1-inch audio display and HD Radio is standard on all four trims.

For a little personalization, Mitsubishi is also offering an optional “Sun and Sound” package on the SE and SEL trims. Furthermore, the SE trim will be riding on new 16” two-tone alloy wheels, and the SE and SEL come with 18” two-tone alloy wheels.

The Engine

Here’s a refresher of the engine options available on the 2017 Lancer trims.

To start off, the Lancer’s base trim, the Lancer SE, is powered by a 2.0L MIVEC DOHC 16-valve I-4 engine that generates up to 148-horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. “MIVEC” is Mitsubishi’s own “VVT”, a process integrated into engines to optimize fuel economy and improve performance. “DOHC” stands for “Double Overhead Camshaft”, which usually means the 2017 Lancer will outperform cars with a Single Overhead Camshaft. Buyers have the option of pairing the Lancer SE engine with a 5-speed manual transmission or an automatic Continuously Variable Transmission, or CVT. The 2.0L engine with the CVT transmission has an EPA of 27 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway, which is fantastic.

The standard engine on the other Lancer trims, the Lancer ES 2.4, SE 2.4 or SEL 2.4 is the 2.4 MIVEC DOHC 16-valve I-4 engine that generates 168-horsepower and 167 lb-ft of torque. This engine gives the Lancer a fuel economy of 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.

Safety Features and Warranties

Also to be expected, Mitsubishi doesn’t skip on the safety features with their signature RISE body construction and advanced seven airbag system. As for warranties, Mitsubishi is still offering the same industry leading warranty on the 2017 Lancer. The warranty consists of a _ transferable _ 5-year/60,000 mile new vehicle limited warranty; a 10-year/100,000 mile powertrain limited warranty; a 7-year/100,000 mile anti-corrosion perforation limited warranty; and a 5-year/unlimited mile roadside assistance.
