Importance of Warranty: Mitsu and Kia, Some of Industry’s Best

The difference a warranty can make when it comes to the cost of repairs is huge. Unfortunately, not enough people know about warranties to know what’s protected and end up footing the bill at times. Warranty? What is this “Warranty” you speak of?

A car is a big investment, so buyers want some form of protection in case an unexpected repair comes up. The practical definition of a warranty is like saying it’s backed by the car manufacturer. They hold their product up to a documented standard, and if the car doesn’t meet such requirements, then the manufacturer will pay for the repair costs , parts and or labor covered by a warranty.

A warranty doesn’t last forever, they have specific terms or a duration. Most of them last only a few years, but Mitsubishi * and * Kia have gone above and beyond with their warranty terms. Both Mitsubishi and Kia protect all of their gas-powered vehicles with a basic limited warranty of 5 years or 60,000 miles, and provides a powertrain limited warranty for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Most car owners don’t even wait that long to switch vehicles, so the engine and related components of that car would be protected the entire time of ownership.

But why is this important? Car repairs cost money – maybe even thousands of dollars. Not every car owner has that kind of cash lying around, no one has a “Car Repair” money jar. If the repairs are covered by the warranty, then the cost to the owner is free. It’s not insurance, where you pay a deductible; the bill goes to the manufacturer and it’s done.

Also, how do you think those repairs are getting done? Aside from the parts, man hours need to be put in to install those parts. Those service workers are also paid by the manufacturer more often than not (not always the case, so be aware of what your warranty _ does _ pay for).

Furthermore, a car’s resale value is strengthened when it’s in good shape and if there is remaining warranty that can be transferred. No one wants to pay ten thousand dollars for a car that looks like it’s falling apart, so if you have stayed on top of repairs that may have come up during your warranty, you will find yourself in a good position when reselling the car. Additionally, if a car still has some warranty life, that may be transferable to the new buyer, and that is like striking gold to a new buyer.
