Kia Motors Boasts New Safety Features on 2021 Kia Sorento

Kia Motors is always finding ways to talk up its new vehicles – that much is clear with the new Kia K5 sports car. With stunt after stunt, Kia has shown off the performance of the K5 with multiple ad sports as a part of its news marketing campaign, and tagline, “Give It Everything”. We all love a good sports car, but there is another vehicle that Kia is starting to boast about. Just like the K5, another vehicle is entering the next generation of its lifetime – the Kia Sorento, returning brand new for 2021. There are so many highlights about the new Sorento, and the powertrain options for the Sorento that Kia detailed are just the beginning. The Sorento also comes with a suite of safety features to back up all that power.

It’s been around for a few years now, and Kia has been slowly adding it into the next model year of every vehicle in the lineup. Known as the Kia Drive Wise Package, consumers get a lot when they opt-in for or get this package standard with their vehicle. The Drive Wise Package adds Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Forward Collision Avoidance (FCA), Blind Spot Collision Warning (BCW) with Lane Change Assist, Rear-Cross Traffic Collision Warning (RCCW), Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Advanced Smart Cruise Control (ASCC), Kia’s Driver Attention Alert (DAA), High Beam Assist, Electronic Parking Brake, and Rain Sensing Variable Intermittent Windshield Wipers. It’s a great collection of low-level to high-level technology to improve the safety as well as the performance of a vehicle.

On the Kia Sorento, every trim will come with the following features – Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with a Pedestrian camera to also watch for civilians and not just other vehicles, Lane Following Assist, Rear View Monitor with Dynamic Parking Guidance, Rear Occupant Alert with Ultrasonic Sensors, and something really cool – Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA). Google Maps may tell you what the speed limit is, but if you can’t look at your phone, ISLA: This feature recognizes up to 12 road signs and can notify the driver if a speed change is necessary. Now, these may be all the standard features across the new 2021 Kia Sorento lineup, but select trims will come with even more safety features for a superior driving experience.

There are more safety features available? BCW, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist-Rear, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance-Parallel Exit, Safe Exit Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist can be found on all trims except the LX. A Blind-Spot View Monitor that can show the driver an image of left or right blind spot areas in the instrument cluster are standard on the 2021 Kia Sorento SX-Prestige and X-Line SX-Prestige. Standard on EX, EX, HEV, SX, SX-Prestige, and X-Line SX-Prestige trims are Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist-Cyc, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist-Junction Turning, and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go. Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control-Curve and Highway Driving Assist can be found on the SX, SX-Prestige, and X-Line SX-Prestige trims.

A couple more for convenience. That’s right – MORE. We all hate having to guess how far the other car is when parking, especially parallel. Parking Distance Warning–Reverse can be found on all trims, but Parking Distance Warning–Forward is only available on the EX HEV, SX-Prestige, X-Line SX-Prestige trims. Also special for the SX-Prestige and X-Line SX-Prestige trims is Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist-Reverse and a Surround View Monitor. All very helpful when needing to park and go in this busy world.
