2500-1

If you haven’t done your research before heading into a Ram dealership, you may assume that the 2016 Ram 1500 will fulfill all of your automotive needs. While the 1500 is certainly a capable vehicle, many customers may overlook the 2500 for the uptick in price. However, that customer would be doing themselves quite the disservice, especially when it comes to the pickup’s interior features.

Touchscreen

2500-2

The largest-in-class available 8.4-inch touchscreen provides much more than access to your favorite radio station. In regards to entertainment, drivers can assess SiriusXM Satellite Radio and any of the company’s hundreds of channels. The UConnect system also provides a 3-D navigation system, as well as UConnect Access (which offers a number of useful apps, allowing you to, say, make dinner reservations or check movie times). Besides the available WiFi hotspot, the system also allows the driver to access many of their phone’s basic capabilities. This means the driver can use hands-free calling or texting without taking their eyes off the road.

The screen is also accompanied by a pair of cameras. The class-exclusive cargo-view camera allows the driver to view all of the contents of their truck bed, meaning they’ll never have to worry about losing cargo. Meanwhile, the ParkView Rear Back-Up Camera System provides a full-color view of what’s happening behind your vehicle. This will help you better anticipate an object, whether it be a curb or another vehicle.

Roominess

2500-3

You don’t expect a particularly comfortable ride from a pickup truck, but the 2500 offers one of the roomiest interiors in the class.

If you opt for the regular cap, the driver can expect 39.9-inches of head room, 62.9-inches of hip room, 66-inches of shoulder room, and 41-inches of leg room.

Of course, if you upgrade to the five-seat Mega Cab 2500, you can expect some best-in-class front and rear dimensions. The front is predictably roomy (41-inches of head room, 63.2-inches of hip room, 41-inches of legroom, and 66-inches of shoulder room), but the rear also offers a surprising amount of passenger space (40.3-inches of head room, 63.2-inches of hip room, 43.3-inches of legroom, and 65.7-inches of shoulder room).

Safety Features

2500-4

Besides the comfortable and (surprisingly) roomy interior (which includes the available work-grade vinyl seats), the Ram 2500 also offers a pair of useful technological features. The Electronic Range Select allows the vehicle’s operator to manually or automatically select the optimal gear, maximizing downshifting and engine braking. Furthermore, the trailer brake controller allows you to manipulate the electronic brakes on your attached trailer.

Besides the features listed above, the 2500 offers a number of additional amenities that will keep the driver and passenger safe. The advanced multistage front airbags are offered in each of the truck’s models, and that system is supplemented by a number of side-curtain airbags.

There’s no denying that the 2500 has one of the most impressive features in the entire class. In fact, the entire line of Ram pickups offer luxurious and innovative cabins.

Just see what Mike Cairns, the Director of Ram Truck Engineering, FCA USA, had to say about the vehicles (via a press release on the brand’s website):

“Ram has bookended its innovation leadership in the pickup segments and thoughtfully engineered better trucks. Our 2016 Ram Trucks own pertinent, functional titles while delivering award-winning interiors and exclusive features that entice customers.”

With that extra bit of research, you’ve hopefully realized that the “exclusive features” of the 2500 are certainly worth considering.
