From a speculative article published by allpar.com — we see that the future 2018 Ram 1500 is definitely a truck to watch out for. If your truck lease is ending or if you will need a new truck in the next few years, read up on the features a 2018 Ram 1500 could include.
Changes to the 2018 Ram 1500 include interior, exterior, engine, and technology upgrades and basically, the 2018 truck will be bigger and badder than ever. Below are a couple of the highlights from some research we have done online.
Updated Engines
The 1500 has three updated engine options, the EcoDiesel, Pentastar, and 5.7-liter “Apache” Hemi. According to allpar.com, the truck’s engine horsepower could reach as high as 400-horsepower for the Hemi engine and up to 300-horsepower for the Pentastar engine. Ram trucks are already known for having reliable engines and with this news, they might be even more trusted and loved after the release of the 2018 models. Another bonus, more powerful engines are likely to improve towing capacity.
Improved Fuel Economy
Even though the new engines might be more powerful, their fuel economy is expected to be better as well. In an interview with AutoGuide.com, Bob Hegbloom, the head of Ram Truck, indicated the brand is investing in more fuel efficient technologies, so hearing that future Ram engines will have improved fuel economy is not hard to believe. In fact, the 2016 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel HFE has the best fuel economy in comparison to all other trucks in its class.
Hybrid Powertrain
A hybrid powertrain is not something most truck drivers even think about. However, it looks like the Ram 1500 might be available in a “mild” hybrid setup. This means, the powertrain would use hybrid qualities when coasting or idling. The feature would definitely help drivers save fuel.
Stow ‘N Go Seats
This feature would be a great benefit for drivers and passengers in Ram trucks. This feature was first introduced by Dodge, and has been increasingly popular among Fiat Chrysler Automobiles vehicles (FCA) like the Dodge Grand Caravan and all-new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, and now it looks like it could be adopted by Ram for the 2018 Ram 1500. Stow ‘N Go seats easily fold into the vehicle’s floor, which creates plenty of flat space for cargo.
Tailgate Changes
According to Allpar.com, the 2018 Ram 1500 could also incorporate some interesting changes to its tailgate — the new tailgate could have a split feature. According to the illustrations included in their story, a split tailgate would allow both halves of the truck gate to either open vertically or sideways and it will make packing and unpacking the bed easier.
