Mitsubishi hit a sales landmark recently. More than 100,000 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEVs have been sold worldwide since it launched in 2012. While this is big news for Mitsubishi, what’s impressive is the fact that it is the leading selling plug-in vehicle in the United Kingdom, according to a Mitsubishi Motors UK spokesman.

Amidst the good news, production of other Mitsubishi vehicles is expected to soon increase as the company is expanding production and sales in the Philippines. Mitsubishi is expanding its assembly in the Philippines due to high demand. Currently, the auto brand is growing at a fast rate and aims to boost 2016 output by 17% to meet those demands.

With the many great reviews the Outlander PHEV have received, it’s very easy to see why it’s grown in popularity in such a short time. It has excellent fuel economy. Being a hybrid that runs on both fuel and battery power, it can traverse the daily commute easily. With a full tank of gas and the battery charged, the automobile can travel over 500 miles. And unlike many hybrids on the roads today, driver’s have the option running solely on battery power for up to 32 miles. This means that the Outlander PHEV can travel up to 32 miles with zero emissions.

Although the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has hit the global mark of 100,000 sales, it actually is not been available in the U.S., but it is coming. This fall, the hybrid 4WD SUV will be unleashed across America. It’s been a long wait, especially since the model was supposed to be available two years ago. Now, the 2-liter, 4-cylinder hybrid will finally be available in the states by year’s end.
