The Kia Telluride is a Game Changer
The all-new 2020 Kia Telluride SUV has been winning awards and making headlines in automotive journalism since its release. Earlier this month, the Kia got some street cred in Texas during the TAWA Auto Roundup with the Kia Telluride . Just last week, the Kia Telluride won awards during the 2019 Northwest Automotive Press Association annual Mudfest . It would seem May is the month for the Telluride because the new SUV has received its third best-in-show award from the Texas Motor Press Association, during the first-ever Texas Off-Road Invitational. It won’t take long for people to forget what makes the 2020 Kia Telluride such a winner.
“Jurors were impressed by the Telluride’s off-road prowess, which rivaled that of traditionally rough-and-ready SUVs in muddy, steep, rocky, and sandy terrain…It also took on the challenge of driving through hub-high water with ease. For Texans, it is important to be able to easily transition from urban to suburban to ranch lifestyles, including off-roading scenarios. It’s also important that a vehicle is priced right for its abilities and build quality. The Telluride proved to Texas Motor Press Association jurors that it is the best combination of those qualities of all the vehicles tested during two days of competition.” – Eileen Falkenberg-Hull, vice president, Texas Motor Press Association.
During the Texas Off-Road Invitational, the all-new mid-size SUV was rated by over 30 truck and sport-utility media outlets at General Sam’s Offroad Park in Huntsville, Texas. With over a dozen vehicles entered, with two very saturated markets, the competition was tense, but the 2020 Kia Telluride won out among the rest. It should be no surprise with all the benefits the new Telluride offers beyond performance and control.
Being the largest SUV by Kia Motors yet, the Telluride is 7.9 inches longer, adding space in the cargo area behind the third-row for up to 21.0 cubic-feet. That’s a large advantage over the large SUV before this, the Sorento, with only 11.3 cubic-feet of cargo space. Plus, more cargo space means more leg room and the ability to stretch when the seats are in use. It’ll be nice with all the available cabin amenities.
Just check out the way the a/c is set up. Why haven’t automakers thought of this before? Regardless, because our heads are always exposed, we all aim the a/c vents towards our face, but the drivers tend to freeze their hands off that way. So instead, the 2020 Kia Telluride has installed the air vents into the ceiling of the SUV. It’s like some crazy witchcraft!
For a little luxury, the Telluride offers first and second-row captain’s chairs that are heated _ and _ ventilated (optional on the SX, first-row only on S and EX trim). Leather upholstery is standard on the EX and SX trim, with premium Nappa leather available on the SX. The standard infotainment system is an UVO link on an 8.0-inch touchscreen display with six speakers and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the LX and S trims. On the EX and SX trims, consumers get UVO link with navigation features and a 10.25-inch touchscreen display.
Don’t forget about the safety features. The 2020 Kia Telluride offers many advanced safety features standard, including the Driver Attention Warning system, Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Forward Collision Avoidance with Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Following Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Park Distance Warning in reverse, Safe Exit Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist, and a rearview monitor with Dynamic Parking Guidance. With all of this, the Kia Telluride is a powerhouse.
