Kia Motors Wiping Up the Auto Market with Awards
It seems Kia Motors has been making rounds lately, as they keep bringing better and better news to the public. It wasn’t too long ago that Kia Motors as a whole gained the top spot in J.D. Power and Associates’ Initial Quality Study . Earlier this year, a few of their vehicles gained some spotlight, such as safety for the Kia Cadenza , Best Budget vehicle for the Kia Soul . Just this past month, some more good news has come for Kia.
Looking for some of the best brands in the automotive world? According to Jumpstart Automotive Media, an organization that highlights the vehicle segments, makes, and models that captured the largest share of online car shoppers during the first half of 2017 points out Toyota, Tesla, and Kia Motors. This year alone, to date, Kia has raised its overall brand share to 3.1 percent, which is a 36 percent increase compared to June of last year. Much of this can be thanks to its recently launched new 2017 hybrid subcompact SUV Niro, its redesigned Rio model, along with the popular Kia Soul and Sorento models.

Back when reports for the JD Power Initial Quality Study concluded, three Kia models were highlighted for model-level rewards. These include the Kia Cadenza in the large sedan segment; the Kia Forte in the compact car category; the new Kia Niro in the small SUV segment; the Kia Sorento in the midsize SUV segment; and the hip Kia Soul in the small multi-purpose vehicle segment. Recently, the J.D. Power Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) awards also concluded. Guess which Kia models earned the awards.
The new Kia Niro crossover (yeah, it’s that good), the Kia Soul, and the Kia Cadenza. The J.D. Power APEAL study measures new-vehicle owners’ overall satisfaction with their vehicles in the first 90 days of ownership. The results are divided into 10 categories and weighed accordingly: exterior, interior, storage, audio, seats, heating and ventilation, driving dynamics, powertrain, visibility, and fuel economy. This is the 5th year in a row the Kia Soul earned the APEAL award, with the Niro besting the competition (small SUV) by 51 points, and the Cadenza outperforming its segment (large car) by 27 points.
