2023 Kia Telluride X-Pro Wins MAMA’s “Favorite Family Vehicle” Award During the 2023 Spring Rally

As the year marches on, we’re going to see a lot of changes in the auto industry. With so many automakers announcing plans to release electric models, software-defined vehicles, and other endeavors, the auto industry won’t ever be the same by the end of the decade. Even so, one thing we can always rely on are the many automotive journalists and publications that publish reviews, “Best of Lists”, and hand out awards to vehicles that outshine the rest. Recently, the Midwest Automotive Media Association’s (MAMA) held its annual Spring Rally, and amongst them, one very popular Kia model took home one of the highest awards during the rally. The 2023 Kia Telluride was crowned “Favorite Family Vehicle”.

This wouldn’t be the first time the Kia Telluride won an award from MAMA. Back in 2020, the large SUV also won “Family Vehicle of the Year” for its undeniable wow factor since its introduction as a concept in 2017. Known as the largest SUV in the Kia Corp lineup, this year has already been a strong one for the Telluride. In May 2023, the automaker saw its second-best sales in company history with many models seeing an increase in units sold. The Kia Telluride SUV had a 35-percent increase as opposed to its May 2022 sales.

Earlier this year, the large SUV also got a nod from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) and received its highest rating – TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+). This is no easy feat. Put through many tests for its crashworthiness, plus an evaluation of its advanced safety features, a vehicle must receive the highest grade for each to earn a TSP+ rating. The Kia Telluride earned this with flying colors. Around the same time, the Kia Telluride landed on the Car and Driver 2022 Editors’ Choice Awards List with eight other Kia models. So far, it’s been a good year for the SUV.

This newest award isn’t just for the Kia Telluride alone. More specifically, it’s the Kia Telluride X-Pro that won the award. Out of nearly 90 vehicles driven on a variety of driving courses, over 100 automotive journalists came together at Elkhart Lake’s Road America in Wisconsin for the Spring Rally, and the majority favored the Kia Telluride SUV for its respective category. Already featuring fresh styling and upscale technology, like an available curved dual 12.3-inch display screen, the Kia Telluride X-Pro adds more rugged looks to the exterior of the SUV and added capability with bridge-type roof rails, X-Pro badging, exclusive 18-inch black wheels, all-terrain tires, increased ground clearance (+10mm), and a 110-volt inverter outlet in the interior cabin for powering appliances. Made for going off-road and adventure, this SUV also has an increased towing capacity from 5,000 pounds to 5,500 pounds for bringing things like a jet ski to the lake or camping gear for a night out in the woods.
