The Kia Optima continues to impress, with many believing that the 2016 model will be the best yet.
Kia unveiled the 2016 Optima at the New York International Auto Show. While there is a lot to like, Kia executive Michael Sprague pulls it all together by saying:
“The all-new Optima retains the signature personality of its predecessor, but we’ve literally improved everything, providing more space, better ride and handling, more technology and greater refinement.”
How does that sound to you? A vehicle that is improved across the board is one that is sure to make consumers happy.
While there are many new additions to make note of, none are more important than the availability of a brand new turbo engine.
The turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine is perfect for those who want more “get up and go” from this family sedan. With a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and 178 horsepower, you will feel the power as soon as your foot hits the pedal.
Of course, there are other engine options to consider. For example, the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine remains a favorite, as well as the base 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine.
Others changes include a lighter and stiffer chassis, which has gone a long way in improving steering and handling.
At first glance, you may not realize that the 2016 model is longer and wider than its predecessor. But once you get up close and personal, this becomes obvious. While it may not seem like a big deal, it improves the Optima’s overall appearance, while also giving backseat passengers more legroom.
Final note: the 2016 Optima will be available with Apple CarPlay, the first Kia vehicle to offer this feature.
When it comes to the 2016 Kia Optima, there is a lot to get excited about. From the new turbo engine to the upgraded technology, this model is primed to be a top seller in the mid-size market.
