2017 Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriot
Aside from the exterior style, the 2017 Jeep Patriot and Compass models have similar specs and very few changes were made to the 2017 models. The Jeep Patriot has a more boxy and rugged look, whereas the Jeep Compass looks similar to the Grand Cherokee, but it is a smaller compact SUV.
Both models are equipped with a 158-horsepower 2.0-liter I-4 World gas engine, that give both models an excellent fuel economy of 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. The 2017 Patriot and Compass lineups have been condensed from five trims to two, the Sport and Latitude trims. Since buyers have different needs, the Patriot and Compass models are available in three drivetrain configurations – standard front-wheel drive, available Freedom Drive I or Trail Rated Freedom Drive II 4×4 systems.
2017 Jeep Renegade
For the 2017 model year, all Jeep Renegade trims have received a couple upgrades. The Jeep Renegade is still equipped with a standard 1.4-liter MultiAir turbo engine and the 2.4-liter Tigershark engine with MultiAir2 paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission is also an available option to buyers, but it is standard on the Renegade Trailhawk. That engine configuration makes the Jeep Renegade the most fuel-efficient Jeep available with an average of 24 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.
Since the Renegade Dawn of Justice Edition and 75th Anniversary Editions are no longer available in 2017, the Renegade lineup will now only consist of four trims, including the off-road Trail Rated Jeep Renegade Trailhawk. All 2017 Renegade trims will have Keyless Go standard on all trims (late availability) and HID headlamps (late availability) and automatic high-beam headlamps will be an option to buyers. Finally, the Renegade Limited will have standard passive entry.
2017 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited
As one of the most popular models made by Jeep, the Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited haven’t received many upgrades or changes for the 2017 model year. The Wrangler is a two-door SUV with seating for four people, and the Wrangler Unlimited is a larger four-door model with seating for up to five people.
Both vehicles are equipped with the same 285-horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine coupled with a standard 6-speed manual transmission or the available 5-speed automatic transmission. All Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited models are equipped with four-wheel drive and they have an average fuel economy of 17 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway.
Currently, it does not seem that the special-edition trims that were available on the Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited lineups in 2016, the 75th Anniversary Edition, Rubicon Hard Rock Edition, Freedom Edition and Willys Wheeler, will return in 2017. New changes to the Wrangler lineup include LED headlights and fog lamps that are standard on the Sahara and Rubicon trims and available options and the Sport and Sport S trims.
2017 Jeep Cherokee
With a total of seven trims, the 2017 Jeep Cherokee will still remain as a top contender in the mid-size SUV segment. Powered by a 2.4-liter I4 MultiAir engine and a 9-speed automatic transmission, the Cherokee has a EPA-rated fuel economy of 22 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. Additionally, the Cherokee is available as front-wheel drive or there are three different 4×4 systems available to buyers.
This year, various Cherokee trims will receive a few upgrades. All Cherokee models, with the exception of the Cherokee Sport, will be upgraded with high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps. The off-roading trim, the Cherokee Trailhawk offers more luxury options like heated and ventilated Nappa leather-trimmed seating and a remote start system.
2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Unlike the other SUV Jeep models, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the most luxurious. In 2017, the Grand Cherokee lineup is getting a new trim built specifically for off-roading, the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk.
The standard Jeep Grand Cherokee engine is a 295-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine, but there are also three other engine options, including the performance engine, the SRT 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine. The Grand Cherokee is available with front-wheel drive or four different 4×4 systems. New for 2017, a rearview camera and rear park sensors will be standard on all Jeep Grand Cherokee models.
The 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, Limited, Overland, and Trailhawk models will have the same front fascia and seven-slot Jeep grille that debuted on the 2016 Grand Cherokee 75th Anniversary edition. New highlights on the new 2017 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk model include off-road capability features, like Jeep’s Quadra-Drive II 4×4 system, a unique Quadra-Lift air suspension, Selec-Speed Control with Hill-ascent and Hill-descent Control, skid plates and an anti-glare hood decal.
