Some SUVs are so much more than vehicles to haul people and cargo around. Some SUVs, like the Dodge Durango, offer a lot to the average consumer . In addition to its room for cargo storage, it also has plenty of space for people and passengers.

Performance

There are two engines that can power the Dodge Durango. The standard on most of the vehicles is the popular 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that can generate up to 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. However, if looking for more power, then consumers will want to go with the optional (sometimes standard, depending on trim level) 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine. Able to generate 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, that offers 7400 pounds of towing power. Let’s not forget about the Dodge Durango SRT either.

Powered by a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine, the Durango SRT generates 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. That’s enough to tow 8,600 pounds, enough for a small boat and maybe a little more. Like many SRT vehicles, the Durango SRT has a cold air intake via an air scoop on the hood of the vehicle to keep the engine cool and funnel cooler air into the air intake. With all those components working together, the Dodge Durango SRT can finish a quarter-mile in just 3.9 seconds, making it America’s fastest three-row SUV and possibly one of the fastest SUVs on the planet.

Style

With the Durango’s available cargo cross bars, consumers aren’t just limited to towing cargo. Put a couple of things up on the roof (up to 150 pounds) and head on over to the beach for a sunny day of good times. Plus with automatic headlights, heated mirrors, and an acoustic windshield, drivers can cruise in the dark, day, or rain, and still have peace of mind and in the cabin.

Inside of course, there’s plenty of space for passengers and cargo. The Durango can seat up to seven people if the party calls for it by opting in for the third-row seating group. It also has room for 84.5 cubic feet of cargo space when it isn’t equipped with third row seating or when the foldable 60/40 fold-and-tumble second-row seat and the 50/50 split-folding third-row seat are down.

Technology

Available with Uconnect 8.4 Nav on an 8.4-inch touchscreen, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and Bluetooth connectivity, the driver and passengers are hooked up in the Dodge Durango. When it comes to safety, know that the driver and passengers are protected with ParkSense rear park assist, a ParkView rear back-up camera, adaptive cruise control with stop, blind-spot monitoring, and in case of emergencies, Uconnect roadside assistance is available to help.
