Silverado eAssist (Mild Hybrid Pickup) Available at Miami Lakes Automall

Few people in Florida have heard about the Chevy Silverado 1500 with eAssist , which is one of the only mild hybrid pickup trucks on the market, and that’s because the model has only been available in California — but Miami Lakes Automall has a new Chevy Silverado 1500 with eAssist available.

Don’t let the truck’s limited availability fool you into thinking the Chevy Silverado 1500 with eAssist isn’t a great truck solution. In fact, we (Floridians) probably haven’t heard much about the truck because the Californians don’t want us to start demanding the powerful and fuel efficient trucks, too.

eAssist is a fuel saving technology introduced by GM a few years ago and they added the new technology to the Silverado in 2016. While there are several different fuel savings technologies on the market, eAssist is a great one for trucks because it increases fuel economy and also boosts the truck’s power, especially torque, which is an important factor when it comes to towing.

The Silverado 1500 with eAssist is equipped with a 5.3-liter V8 engine that produces 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. The electric motor provides stop/start capability and functions to increase torque, which increases truck’s horsepower by 13 horses (total horsepower 368 horsepower) and torque increases by 44 lb-ft of torque, bringing the V8s total torque production to total of 427 lb-ft of torque, which is more torque produced by the Ford F-150’s V8 engine (400 lb-ft of torque) or the Ram 1500’s V8 engine (410 lb-ft of torque).

Not only does the Silverado 1500 produce more power than the other V8 light-duty trucks available, but it also has a better fuel economy. The Chevy Silverado 1500 with eAssist averages 18 mpg in the city, 24 mpg on the highway and it has a combined city/highway fuel economy of 20 mpg. The Ford F-150 with a V8 engine has a fuel economy of 17 mpg in the city, 23 mpg on the highway and a combined city/highway fuel economy of 19 mpg, and the Ram 1500 with a V8 engine averages 15 mpg in the city, 22 mpg on the highway, and it has a combined city/highway fuel economy of 17 mpg.
