Chevy Malibu Rated Best Midsize Car in J.D Power Initial Quality Study – Miami Lakes Automall Chevrolet

The Chevy Malibu was recently recognized as one of the best midsize cars by J.D Power. Operating as a leader in consumer behavior, J.D Power utilizes consumer insight and analytical data to better understand consumer sentiment. Each year, the company conducts an Initial Quality Study (IQS) which provides automakers and manufacturers with insight into how they can improve their products. Based on the 2022 IQS, the Chevy Malibu was categorized as the highest ranking midsize car. Other Chevy vehicles that earned high ranks included the Chevy Equinox , Chevy Silverado , and Chevy Corvette . Chevy Malibu Highest Ranked Midsize Car

According to J.D Power’s 2022 Initial Quality Study (IQS), the Chevy Malibu was the highest ranked midsize car. As a brand, Chevrolet did well overall with many of its vehicles ranking high in their respective segments. J.D Power conducts its IQS annually by using responses from customers over a 90-day period. The study utilizes a 223-question survey organized into nine separate categories including: infotainment, features, controls, exterior, driving assistance, interior, powertrain, seats, driving experience, and climate. As a leading data analytics company, J.D Power uses this consumer data to help automakers and manufacturers improve their products.

Scores from J.D Power’s IQS are based on how many problems per 100 vehicles (PP100) consumers encounter. The lower the PP100 score, the better the vehicle quality. Based on J.D Power’s 2022 IQS, the overall automotive industry saw an 11% increase in problems per 100 vehicles (PP100). Chevrolet, however, managed to score fairly well compared to its competitors earning a total PP100 score of 147. This score placed the automaker third in the overall IQS.

One of Chevy’s best-performing vehicles was the Chevy Malibu which managed to beat out the Kia K5 as well as the Nissan Altima. Other Chevy vehicles that earned a good score included the Chevy Corvette which managed to place first in the Premium Sport Car category. The Corvette earned a PP100 score of 101 which was the lowest score out of all vehicles studied. Other Chevy vehicles that performed well included the Chevy Tahoe, Silverado, and Equinox. From this year’s IQS, it’s clear that Chevrolet has continued to maintain its overall quality in the face of industry setbacks.
