In today’s world, we’re a little spoiled in terms of demanding more than just the average function from your vehicle. These days, consumers require state-of-the-art technology while lusting after a beautiful exterior style. Fortunately, the 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Cab has just that and then some.
Under The Hood
For the 2019 model year, the Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Cab has a powerful 395 horsepower 5.7-liter V8 HEMI engine with Variable Valve Timing (VVT) and a Multi-Displacement System (MDS) included. According to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), VVT improves engine breathing, which improves engine efficiency and power. Ram’s fuel-saving MDS seamlessly alternates between smooth, high-fuel-economy four-cylinder mode when less power is needed, and V-8 mode when more power from the new 5.7-liter HEMI engine is in demand. The 5.7-liter engine has the option of upgrading to an eTorque System and is matched at an eight-speed automatic 8HP75 transmission.
Once equipped with the 5.7-liter V8 engine, the Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Cab has a maximum towing capacity of 11,340 pounds and a payload capacity, when properly equipped, of 1,770 pounds. The HEMI engine also allows for a pretty sweet entry-ramp acceleration on the highway. The Ram 1500 Laramie has a fuel economy of 20 mpg on the highway, mainly due to the active air dams and upper grille shutters to improve its aerodynamics at higher speeds. FCA engineers also decreased the Ram 1500s weight by 225 lbs. This is due to the high-strength steel, composites, and aluminum to shave the extra pounds.
Inside + Out
The exterior style of the 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Cab is sleek and can make anyone look like a Star Wars Villain – thanks to the sculpted hood, shiny headlamps, and elaborate in-your-face grille design. As mentioned in our “ 2019 Ram Storage Compartments, Even Some Hidden Ones Too ” article, the interior and exterior of the 2019 Ram 1500 are loaded with plenty of storage space and hidden cargo compartments. The interior cabin screams luxury and comfort, specifically with the full leather trim, chromed-metal fixtures, and a large bench seat in the second row. For the 2019 model year, the interior cabin has been expanded by 4-inches, so the second row now has 45.1-inches of legroom and the seat can recline up to eight degrees.
Additionally, all of the seats in the Laramie trim come heated, and only the front seats offer A/C venting. So, why not in the second row? That’s due to the 40/20/40 fold-down bench seat that can be configured in order to make more room for cargo that isn’t able to be stored in the pickup bed. Along with the under seat storage option, the Laramie trim also offers RamBins. 5.5-inches longer than the previous Ram model, the RamBins can fit up to a 4-inch drop hitch with integrated tie-down loops for additional assistance in securing extra cargo. Returning for 2019 is the RamBox Cargo Management System that can be installed into the sides of the truck bed (optional add-on).
In terms of entertainment, no expense was spared in the 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie trim level. Given the option of a 12-inch touchscreen, the Laramie trim is standard with an 8.4-inch touchscreen. The impressive 12-inch touchscreen is easy and intuitive while having split-screen capabilities allowing two applications to operate at the same time. For our techie friends, there are numerous USB ports around the cabin including a USB-A and the newer USB-C for ultra-fast charging. Furthermore, a 19-speaker Harman Kardon Premium Sound System is an optional feature, while a 9-speaker system with a subwoofer comes standard. The 8.4-inch display includes Uconnect 4 that features Apple CarPlay/Google Android Auto capabilities for added convenience.
