Ram to Compete in EV Sector with its First All-Electric Pickup – Miami Lakes Automall Ram

July 23rd, 2021 by

Ram is looking to join the EV competition as it focuses on its own electric pickup. Announced for early 2024, Ram is releasing snippets about its all-new all-electric Ram 1500 pickup. Ram has stated that its new electric pickup truck will surpass rivals like Ford and Tesla, but Ram fans will have to wait a little while longer to see the full capabilities of the all-new all-electric Ram 1500. Using information leaks and teaser images, we can speculate on what Ram will have in mind to outpace its competitors.

What to Expect of the All-New All-Electric Ram 1500

Given Ram’s statements and messaging, it’s safe to say that Ram is confident about its upcoming electric pickup. Their new brand statement makes a small change that encapsulates their future vision. Originally just, “Built to serve,” Ram has added an extra part to its slogan, “Built to serve a sustainable planet.” Simple yet effective, Ram’s new brand statement lays a good foundation for its future endeavors. It highlights their goals as they enter the EV sector.

With an idea of Ram’s future plans for their lineup, it leaves fans and consumers wanting a bit more in terms of the pickup’s capabilities. Slow leaks and teaser photos seem to be Ram’s preferred method, however. About this, the senior manager of Ram brand marketing, Carl Lally stated:

“What we’ve heard from our consumers is that they’re not looking for a compromised truck solution, so really, some of the core attributes that we communicate to our customers about our trucks, the capability, and the durability, those aren’t going to change, I think, as you look forward to an EV-oriented truck product.”

Carl Lally, Senior Manager of Ram Brand Marketing

This statement may entice Ram fans because it means that Ram is not going for a completely new overhaul for its all-new electric Ram 1500. As the saying goes, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Ram has been rolling out high-performance pickups for years. Their formula for creating a pickup truck that is both durable and capable of getting the job done has proven to be successful, so they won’t be altering it too much. Instead, it seems Ram will focus on bringing consumers an electric pickup truck that is efficient and environmentally friendly. Production of an effective electric vehicle involves good range and adequate charging capabilities. A pickup version includes all this, but it comes with an emphasis on power and performance. Ram seems to be fully aware of this so we’ll have to see what decisions they decide on for the all-new all-electric Ram 1500.

What is Known so Far

What is known about the all-new all-electric Ram 1500 is that it will ride on a newly developed truck platform known as the STLA Frame. This new body-on-frame architecture will be utilized for several other models across the Stellantis brand. The STLA Frame will be able to accommodate battery pack sizes from 159 kWh to 200 kWh. These battery packs will be able to provide a range of up to 500 miles per charge. This platform will also enable e-AWD thanks to front- and rear-axle electric motors.

Ram’s all-new all-electric Ram 1500 will face tough competition. Slated to debut in 2024, the electric pickup will follow the Ford F-150 Lightning, the Chevrolet Silverado Electric, and others like the Tesla Cybertruck. Ram fans will have to wait patiently for more details about the new electric pickup, but from what can be deciphered, Ram has something very special in store for its first all-electric pickup.
