Ram Celebrates 10 Years at the Kentucky Derby With a New Truck

April 25th, 2019 by

2019 marks Ram’s 10th anniversary as the official automotive sponsor of the renowned Kentucky Derby, often referred to as the biggest race in the American thoroughbred horse racing world. Ram usually relies on auto shows across the nation to introduce new trucks in its lineup and the Kentucky Derby edition is no exception. The New York Auto Show served as the backdrop for the debut of their latest pickup. Head of Ram brand, Reid Bigland, was excited to debut the latest darling of the Ram lineup saying “The Kentucky Derby remains one of America’s most recognized sporting events. This hardworking truck is packed with exclusive technology, luxury and good looks that make it fit to wear the Kentucky Derby name.”

Ram chose its all-new 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty pickups as the models within its lineup to showcase the Kentucky Derby Edition package. Although not officially on the market yet, the Ram Heavy Duty pickups feature class-leading hauling and towing figures, thus making them the perfect choice to haul heavy trailers thanks to their power, prowess, capabilities, and luxury. Ram will only sell the Kentucky Derby Edition package on the Limited trim, giving prospective buyers plenty of perks, one of which is the choice between two hefty engines – either a roaring 6.4-liter HEMI V8 or a 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel.

Ram offers seven exterior colors on the Kentucky Derby Edition for buyers to choose from – Pearl White, Diamond Black Crystal, Max Steel, Patriot Blue, Bright White, Granite Crystal, and Delmonico Red. On the rear bedsides buyers will find the large Kentucky Derby logo featured above. Other top-tier features of the Kentucky Derby Edition include active hitch grid lines, Forward Collision Warning Plus complete with trailer braking, a 360-degree surround-view camera system equipped with trailer-reverse guidance, and air suspension with bed lowering capabilities. The impressive 12-inch Uconnect touchscreen display that debuted on the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 is also a nice addition to the Kentucky Derby Edition pickups, even featuring navigation and a one-year complimentary SiriusXL subscription.

On the inside, the Kentucky Derby Edition features a look that merges the Limited and Longhorn trims with a unique leather-clad cabin and two-tone layout complete with metal trim and genuine wood accents. Ram is limiting the production of the Kentucky Derby Edition pickups to 1,000 units only. The Kentucky Derby Edition Ram 2500 has a starting MSRP of $ 66,890 and the Ram 3500 Kentucky Derby Edition starts at $68,240 – both prices do not reflect a $1,695 destination fee.
