Mitsubishi Enters 2023 Electrify Expo with Outlander PHEV
For the last few years, we’ve been waiting to see the next step Mitsubishi Motors will take to lead the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. Said to be the first of the three automakers to release a new model that will be added to all three lineups, we don’t think it’s the Colt Hybrid, a rebadge of the Renault Clio. It could be the mysterious compact SUV teased in the Mitsubishi “Challenge 2025” business plan announcement. With plans to release six models over the course of 2023, the automaker can rely on its plug-in hybrid entry, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, to carry the torch when it comes to show time. Such is the case for the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid showcase during 2023 Electrify Expo.

It’s true, the Electrify Expo is a pretty big deal. North America’s largest electric vehicle festival, over 1 million square feet are dedicated to the event in several locations every year. Attracting more battery-electric vehicle (BEV) curious consumers than any other event in the country, the locations also come with a robust test driving component. At the Electrify Expo, attendees can get a fully immersive experience in the vehicle electrification world and get behind the wheel of an electrified vehicle as a sort of “try before they buy” coupled with education about the growing market for BEVs. Starting May 19, 2023, the Electrify Expo will first set up shop at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, California until May 21, 2023.
Next up is Alameda Point, San Francisco from June 24-25, 2023, but South Florida consumers won’t have to travel to get a chance to attend the Electrify Expo. From October 14-15, 2023, the Electrify Expo will take place on the Miami Dade Fairgrounds in Miami, Florida. It would seem that Mitsubishi Motors plans to attend all locations this year with the 2023 Outlander Plug-in Hybrid SUV. Having received multiple awards and great reviews from all sorts of automotive publications, the Outlander PHEV has been a flagship of the automaker for years overseas before it came to America. Like many other vehicles at the Electrify Expo, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV will be available for test drive.
On the showroom floor, the entire Outlander PHEV lineup, from the entry-level 2023 Outlander Plug-in Hybrid ES (MSRP starting at $39,845 plus destination fee) to the top-tier 40th Anniversary Edition of the plug-in hybrid SUV (MSRP starting at $49,995 plus destination fee). The best-equipped and most connected vehicle the automaker has ever sold in the states, the Outlander PHEV offers an all-electric range (AER) of 38 miles, a total driving range of 420 miles, and offers mass-market DC fast-charging capability to charge battery pack to 80-percent capacity in only 38 minutes. A great time to grab a snack or bathroom break while on the road.
