Get the 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage Before It’s Gone for Good
Finally, we’re halfway through the year. It’s a scorcher with these heat waves, but I hear the sun is going through a phase, and temperatures should get better over the next few years. Around this time of year, automakers start to release 2025 models or announce 2025 models for the following model year. One of those nameplates won’t return for Mitsubishi. The Mitsubishi Mirage (and expectedly the G4) has been discontinued. The last one is rolling off the assembly line any day now. Get the most affordable car in America today, the Mitsubishi Mirage!
The 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage is the last mode year for this fuel-efficient hatchback. Powered by 1.2L MIVEC DOHC engine, capable of generating 78 horsepower and 74 lb-ft of torque. Switching through gears is seamless with automatic continuously variable transmission, and the setup delivers a fuel economy of 36 mpg in the city and 43 mpg on the highway.
Because this is the last model year, a lot of attention was given to mid-tier trims like the Special Edition (SE) and Black Edition (BE) trims. For instance, standard features for the SE include automatic headlights starting with the SE, exterior mirrors with turn signal indicators, LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, chrome wheel locks, and SE badging. Getting a “blacked out” trim appearance package is like a rite of passage in the market. The BE trim comes with black wheel locks and lug nuts, a black roof spoiler, black side mirrors, and a black interior to match with a “Black Edition” badge, black A/C vent, and black center console trim. The standard wheel size is 14-inch alloy wheels, followed by 15-inch alloy wheels for the SE and BE trims.
The interior cabin isn’t as deprived, equipped with a six-way adjustable driver seat, a four-way adjustable passenger seat, and automatic climate control with cloth upholstery. For a little more upscale comfort, the SE and BE trims offer synthetic leather-trimmed front seats with heating functionality. Sounds nice. Also found on the SE and BE trims are a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob. Oddly enough, the blacked-out trim comes with red stitching on the gear shift knob.
Over the years, Mitsubishi Motors has had an amalgam of tech setups through partnerships with third party companies to offer things like the sound system. These days, most Mitsubishi Motors models for 2024 come with a 7-inch smartphone-link display audio system (SDA) as the standard for the lineup, and supports Bluetooth wireless tech, Apple CarPlay, and Google Android Auto, built-in navigation control, Google Maps™, or Waz; and can make phone calls with Siri voice control. This is as basic as it gets, but the partnership between the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance and Google should pay off soon. Since 2018, the two have been working together to put an Android-based infotainment system into Mitsubishi Motors, and the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance all but confirmed it when sharing the Alliance 2030 roadmap with the Alliance 2030 roadmap, with the next Mitsubishi model said to come equipped with a new infotainment system operated by Google software.
Mitsubishi Motors doesn’t forget about safety. These days, some automatic safety features are included. The 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage comes with Forward Collision Mitigation system with Pedestrian Detection standards. Consumers will also get Lane Departure Warning on the SE and BE trims. The crème de la crème is the warranty and coverage Mitsubishi Motors extends to all new vehicles. All Mitsubishi vehicles are covered by a basic limited warranty for 5 years/60,000 miles, a powertrain limited warranty for 10 years/100,000 miles, 7 years or 100,000 miles of anti-corrosion coverage, and roadside assistance.
