The Great Features of the 2021 Kia Seltos
The Kia Seltos compact SUV started overseas, but it soon made its way stateside, and a lot of consumers are showing interest. It’s easy to see why the Kia Seltos offers a lot of great features and options. Starting from a great price of $21,990 (plus destination fee), it’s a great budget car, and with just five trims, Kia Corp makes sure every trim is as good as the last. Take a look at some of these great features.
Design
Available five trims – LX, S, EX, S Turbo, and SX Turbo – the base LX trim comes with the modern standards of technology and performance, starting with an 8-inch touchscreen, an MP3/AM/FM radio with Bluetooth calling, voice recognition, Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, Siri Eye Free, a rear-camera display, and steering-wheel-mounted audio, cruise, and phone controls, and a six-speaker system. This level of entertainment quickly goes up and ends with UVO Link on a 10.25-inch touchscreen with remote connectivity, voice-command navigation, SiriusXM, and a Bose premium audio system on the SX Turbo trim.
Built with great legroom, the seating adjustments for the driver and front passenger help finding comfort for long trips. The driver’s seat can be adjusted ten ways manually or automatically (depending on the trim level). Talking about how much room this compact SUV offers, once consumers fold down the rear row, there is a total of 62.8 inches of free space for storing bags, luggage, maybe even a bicycle. The 2021 Kia Seltos may look small and boxy on the outside like most SUVs of its size, but the cabin tells a different story, and its curves give it a smoother feel with a new front fascia adding an upscale look without the upscale price.
Power
This compact SUV can come equipped with a 2.0-liter DOHC I-4 engine, able to produce 146 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque, and standard on the LX, S, and EX trims. The S Turbo and SX Turbo kick it up a notch, but this is meant to be a compact SUV, so no racetracks for this one, even if it can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.6 seconds. Under the hood of these trims is a turbocharged 1.6-liter DOHC I-4 engine, capable of generating up to 175 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. The real joy doesn’t come from the power but the engineering.
The 2021 Kia Seltos handles really well and responds to driver control quickly. This is especially true for the SX Turbo trim, built with an all-wheel drive system that boasts more torque handling than most SUVs. The trims on the lower end of the lineup can still handle the roads, rain or storm. Plus, with the improved suspension, the Seltos is tough and can handle most driving conditions.
Technology
As already went over a lot of the tech with the trim lineup, but there is always a little more. Aside from the standard stuff like Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto compatibility, the 10.25-inch touchscreen comes with a split-screen feature to be able to change music while navigating simultaneously, and a wireless charging pad for smartphones is also available. For the connected family, there are three USB ports as well.
Tougher than it looks, the Seltos may look nice, but it can take a punch. Built with a firm and solid chassis, the 2021 Kia Seltos received a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Plus, past the base trim (LX), consumers can get advanced safety features like keeping assist, a driver attention warning system, lane keeping and following assist, lane departure warning, forward collision avoidance with a camera, blind spot collision avoidance assist, and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist.Looking for your new Kia Seltos?
