Kia Motors Corp. is always looking for the next big thing. In terms of innovation and forward thinking, this automaker has taken the world by storm.
Most recently, it brought the public something special at the Seoul Motor Show: a compact coupe-styled sedan.
On the outside, it is hard not to see a little bit of the Optima in this new vehicle, dubbed the Novo.
Designed at the company’s Namyang design center, this four-door compact sedan offers the best of both worlds. It is big enough to accommodate the needs of a family, but small enough to be affordably priced, nimble, and able to take on a variety of roadways.
Kia added the following in a recent press release:
“The Kia Novo hints at the design direction for the brand’s next-generation compact vehicles.”
There is no denying that statement. The Novo definitely shows the direction the company is moving.
It Starts Upfront
There is a lot to like about the Novo, with the grille being one of its most attractive features. The Kia “tiger nose” grille is still there, but it is unlike anything the company has presented in the past. It is deeply embedded and slightly wider than one might expect. In this case, different is definitely better.
What’s Under the Hood?
It’s hard not to like what you see on the outside. However, the real fun begins when you take a peak under the hood. This is where you will find Kia’s 1.6-liter turbocharged direct-injection Kappa engine. Best yet, it is mated with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission to ensure tons of fun every time you get behind the wheel.
Keeping with a dedication to performance, the Novo rolls on “adaptive concave profile” tires, ensuring maximum contact with the road at all times. Better yet, the tires cut back on road noise, making for a quieter cabin.
There is no news yet on whether or not this concept will make its way to production in the near future. Furthermore, it is hard to say how the compact coupe-styled sedan will be priced.
When this vehicle finally makes its way to a Kia dealership in your area, don’t hesitate to stop by for a closer look. There is a good chance you will fall in love with both the interior and exterior.
