Kia Shows Off Redesigned Sorento | Kendall Kia

Kia is constantly innovating. The Sorento has been a solid performer for Kia over the past several years, but now the Korean automaker is giving the SUV a makeover for 2016 that will likely win over many new converts.

Kia released photos of the new 2016 Kia Sorento, and the SUV has a sleeker look. Most notably, the body of the Sorento is a little longer and a little leaner. That means there will be slightly more room inside, but the Sorento won’t look as boxy on the outside. The new Sorento is 3.7 inches longer and just over a half-inch shorter. A wheelbase that is 3 inches longer creates more passenger space.

Some of the design changes for the new Sorento include a lower stance, a more rugged-looking grille, trapezoidal fog lights and sharper front lines. Previous models of the Sorento looked a little more “smiley,” with a more open grille and upright, rectangular headlights.

The rear end maintains a similar design, though the tail lights have been redesigned to be wrap around.

Kia says that the new Sorento will also include new safety features and convenience technology, though it has not elaborated on what they will be. Other changes will include better handling and greater driving comfort.

All will be revealed when the 2016 Kia Sorento is released at the end of August in Korea. The Srrento will also be unveiled in Europe at the beginning of October. Officials expect the Sorento to make its U.S. debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show in November.
