Kia Puts EV9 and EV6 on Display During 2023 Monterey Car Week
Monterey Car Week is a pretty grand time in August for automobile enthusiasts and car lovers. A number of car-related events are held in and around Monterey, California all week, and it’s the perfect time for automakers to share what they’ve been working on. One name in the industry, Kia America, has been showing off its growing lineup of battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), such as the EV6 and EV9. Already landing on American shores, the former has been winning awards and turning heads. Returning to Monterey Car Week with the EV9, this is the automaker’s way of telling us that the EV9 will be coming stateside very soon.
“After shocking the automotive world last year at The Quail with the debut of the EV6 GT, Kia is returning with the EV9 SUV, which encapsulates our experience in producing brilliantly designed, best-in-class SUVs with our deep expertise in developing the industry’s leading EVs…Being present in Monterey demonstrates the gravity of Kia’s dedication to delivering vehicles that continue to innovate.” – Steven Center, COO & EVP, Kia America
Returning to Monterey Car Week and The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering, the three-row EV9 SUV will share the stage with a new limited edition model of the EV6. A blast from the past, the Kia Corp originally announced three new lines being added to select models – the GT-Line, X-Line, and Designer Collection. We’ve seen a handful of the first two, but not many “designer” models have been released since the Kia Soul EX Designer Collection Package. This new Kia EV6 is being called a “designer’s choice” EV6 model, but there isn’t a lot of new information. So far, we know it’s getting a unique interior, a fancy and colorful design for the exterior, and it will have a limited run of 1,000 units. This announcement comes at the same time as another special EV6 limited-run, the EV6 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year Limited Edition.
During The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering, visitors will be able to see this new limited edition EV6 at a dedicated Kia space on the main exhibition field. This will also be a great time for consumers to experience the EV9 for the first time in America. Replacing the EV6 as the flagship of the brand’s global Plan S strategy, the EV9 is the first three-row EV SUV from Kia and will pioneer the new lineup as Kia continues to rock the automotive industry. Overseas, the Kia EV9 has already been doing well, and citizens of the UK had a chance to get behind the wheel of the EV9 during a special EV9 UK Dealer Tour called the “EV9 Electric Experience”.
The Kia EV9 is also changing how the automaker produces new vehicles coming to the lineup. Officially the first model to be made of mostly sustainable materials, the EV9 has earned its right as the new flagship of the brand going forward. Like many automakers, Kia wants to become carbon neutral, maybe even carbon-free. Matching the reduction of carbon emissions from automobiles with the shift to BEVs, automakers also want to emit less carbon dioxide when producing such vehicles to attack pollution on both ends of the process. The EV9 is one of many vehicles to help make this a reality.
Want to find your own Kia EV6 or EV9? Both are on the lot, and you can find many more new Kia models at Miami Lakes Automall.
