2021 Kia Seltos Official Specs

February 18th, 2020 by

The 2021 Kia Seltos is starting to break into the North American auto market by entering the Entry SUV segment with modern styling and a mood for adventure. During the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show, Kia Motors shared the good news that the Seltos would join the already robust North American lineup with a look at some of the U.S. specs. The Kia Seltos offers plenty of great options , but we were waiting on a PR from the automaker for the real deal on what we can expect. Prayers have been answered, because the latest press release from Kia Motors gives us a full look inside and out on what the 2021 Kia Seltos will bring to the market.

Engineering Done Right

Engineered to satisfy both driver and passengers, multiple elements have been fine-tuned to ensure a rich experience when riding or driving the Kia Seltos. Two engine options will be made available for the 2021 model year, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder MPI engine will come standard on the LX, S and EX trims. Capable of producing 146 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque, this engine is paired with an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). If looking for a little boost, the 2021 Kia Seltos S (option) and SX trims come with a 1.6-liter Turbo GDI engine under the hood, capable of generating 175 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT).

When it comes to engineering, the 2021 Kia Seltos holds strong. Built with a body composed of 61-percent advanced high-strength steel and 374 feet of structural adhesives, it’s strong and rigid, but looks smooth and fun. Speaking of which, engineered for the driver as much as the passengers, the Kia Seltos comes with three drive modes (Normal, Smart, Sport) that allow the driver to set specific settings for powertrain, drivetrain, and steering mapping for a more personalized driving experience. Going further, an active on-demand all-wheel drive (AWD) system will also be available, capable of handling all-weather conditions.

Style In and Out

The 2021 Kia Seltos has a very welcoming façade. With a sense of robust stability due to its long wheelbase, an aggressive lower front bumper keeps it in line with a life for adventure. The Seltos may be designed to be safe to drive, but front and rear skid plates tease off-road capabilities, and the headlamp design featuring full LED “Beat” lighting (on the SX trim) only further that theory. For a bolder personality, consumers can choose 17-, and 18-inch alloy wheels give their Seltos a more up-scale appearance. Sporting the signature “tiger-nose” grille of many Kia Motors vehicles, there’s a sense of harmony from front to rear that can only be matched by the Seltos’ interior design.

A wide instrumental panel gives a high tech feel to the cockpit, and the “Herculean Interior” offers a level of roominess and comfort not commonly found in compact SUVs, with generous hip, shoulder, leg and headroom in both rows, and options for cargo space. Drivers can enjoy a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob in the S, EX, SX trims and a sliding front console cover. All trims come with a two-step reclining rear seat functionality for maximum comfort, but the SX is a game-changer with mood light that changes color and intensity based on volume level. All New Tech

That’s right – Bose speakers, for the first-time ever, will be in a Kia Motors vehicle, offering a premium sound system. All Kia Motors come with some form of the UVO infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, and the higher up the lineup, the more tech options made available. These include wireless smartphone charging, a total of three USB charging ports, and multi-Bluetooth wireless connectivity that allows for the connection of two phones simultaneously. All of this can also be made available with a 10.25-inch high-resolution color touchscreen with satellite radio, UVO telematics, navigation, and a split-screen display.

Safety is also a large focus of Kia Motors vehicles, and with “Kia Drive Wise” Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) available, drivers can drive knowing their vehicle will help keep themselves and their passengers safe. These advanced safety features include Blind Spot Collision Warning, Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist, Driver Attention Warning, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Highway Driving Assist, Lane Departure Warning System, Lane Keeping Assist System, Lane Following Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist, Rear Occupant Alert, Smart Cruise Control with stop & go, and Safe Exist Assist. The 2021 Kia Seltos will also offer an UVO Link telematics system that can set up custom user profiles and sends the driver notifications about vehicle maintenance via text and in-vehicle via the touchscreen.
